I’m sorry to make this joke for the billionth time, but there really is a lot of Kardashian news to “keep up with” these days. I’m not even kidding. As a shameless watcher of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, I am still in complete shock that former Kardashian nemesis Blac Chyna is in a romantic relationship with Rob Kardashian. But before I could even get past it so much more has happened.
Rob got Blac Chyna that purple lamborghini. The couple is now engaged. Blac Chyna and Rob’s sister Kylie Jenner have called off their public feud via Snap Chat. And to top it all off, the social media-loving couple is expecting a baby! When Blac Chyna and Rob got engaged, the Kardashians and Jenners did not publicly acknowledge the news at all. There were no “congratulations” posts and they didn’t even knock the announcement by posting shady quotes. Things are a little bit different this time around though.

Before I get to the nice stuff, there is actually some Kardashian kontroversy as per usual. Blac Chyna’s rep told People that the couple planned to announce the pregnancy on Mother’s Day and that that it was someone in Rob’s family who leaked the news before they got the chance to do it themselves. The rep stated, “Allegedly the other half of her family leaked her story so she had to announce it,” says the rep, speaking of the Kardashians. The only people that knew from Chyna’s side was myself and Amber. Her mother didn’t even know. [Chyna’s] moment was taken from her, which is really sad.” Even if this was true, I don’t feel like publicly announcing the discord is going to strengthen Blac Chyna and Rob’s relationship with his family. This really was not a good move in my opinion.
The rep also threw in, “It’s the business. There’s a TV show to promote.” Well, damn. You know Kris Jenner is seething at that one.
But anyway, now on to the happy stuff- sort of. Well, to be clear, when I say that “things are a little bit different” this time around, that’s really all that I mean. Rob’s famous family really did not go above and beyond to congratulate him on the life-changing news. There were no pic stitches or throwback photos posted (at least not yet), but Kim Kardashian and Kylie did come through with the social media approval. Kim liked Rob and Blac Chyna’s pregnancy announcement Instagram posts and it looks like Kylie just liked her brother’s photo.
Kylie’s boyfriend (and Blac Chyna’s ex) Tyga came through with an Instagram comment on Blac Chyna’s post. The rapper wrote “Congratulations” accompanied by a party hat emoji.
Even though this doesn’t seem like much, it really is a major step up from the previous shade throwing, followed by the dead silence. Hopefully there are more positive actions from Rob’s family to support him during this major step in his life.
