Season 9 of The Voice is about to get its freak on! Missy Elliott has officially signed on as an advisor for Pharrell Williams‘ team.
The Voice returns September 21, bringing Missy, a reality TV virgin, to show hopeful artists about workin’ it for the battle rounds alongside her friend Pharrell. Pharrell and Missy have been collaborating together on her recent album and in the process he recruited her to come board as a mentor.

Missy will be bringing her hip hop expertise, particularly focusing on her ability to dominate a stage.
Other advisors for season 9 will be Selena Gomez for new coach Gwen Stefani‘s team, while Blake Shelton is adding country superstar Brad Paisley, and Adam Levine has successfully nabbed John Fogerty as his team mentor.
In addition to all of that mega-wattage star power Rihanna will be taking over from Taylor Swift, as she joins the show joining as competition-wide advisor to contestants.
“This is one of music’s true supervisors coming on board to influence the lives and careers of the performers,” gushed NBC boss Bob Greenblatt of Rihanna.

The Voice season 9 premieres Monday, September 21.
