Why RHOC Fans Needed All of the Women Back for Season 19

The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 18 had it all. A DUI, paparazzi being called, and Jesus Jugs, aka Alexis Bellino. But even though the season delivered, there was unrest amongst the group. This called into question who would be asked back for Season 19. There were calls for multiple oranges to be squeezed and given up. But it turns out the entire full-time cast will be back behind the gilded gates.

Katie Ginella is a star

Personally, I loved watching Katie Ginella on Season 18. She came in hot, taking names and asking questions later, especially when it came to the smear campaign against Heather Dubrow. Who else has gone to such depths to call Fancy Pants out on her fascination with alleged posed photos at Disneyland? If you get past her inability to take Heather at her word she was a grounded, serious, lively, and astute woman who understood her mission. To create a story around Heather not saying hello to her while at a mutual Christmas party was genius. It was petty enough to show that Katie was more than willing to get her hands dirty.

If Katie wasn’t asked back I think it would have been an injustice to the franchise. She caused enough turmoil that she earned the orange. But let’s not forget she also had quite a bond with Jennifer Pedranti. A sophomore season will be able to build on their friendship, especially since Jenn is going to need all the allies she can muster up.

Now, Jennifer had to grow on me. It was hard to embrace her airy fairy personality when it came to her realistic lifestyle. And it’s even harder not to call out Ryan Boyajian’s numerous red flags constantly. But I will say even though I think Jenn does nothing for the camera except cry she is always authentically herself. And Season 19 needs that now more than ever. Under her glam makeup and quaffed hair she is the only one who called out Alexis for threatening to reveal Shannon Beador’s DUI Ring footage. I understand why she became a quick Real Housewives of Orange County fan favorite. Even though she is terrible with money, decision-making, and dating a loser, she has a huge heart, and I found myself really rooting for her by the end of the season.

Not to mention, Season 18 left fans on a cliffhanger. The episode showed Jenn finally learning about the legal trouble Ryan had found himself in. Ryan was named in a federal investigation about a gambling scheme but was never actually indicted and was granted full immunity in the case. During the season, an article by ESPN came out claiming that Ryan was the bookmaker’s associate to whom interpreter Ippei Mizuhara wired money to pay his gambling debts. It will be very interesting to see where the two love birds stand during Season 19 as they plan a wedding.

The rest of the RHOC ladies are not free from drama

And this brings us to the rest of the women. Fans are going to want to know how Shannon’s post-DUI and facelift lawsuit is going. No matter what stress that woman is under, she can always deliver a pivotal scene for fans. But perhaps more importantly, I want to see how Gina Kirschenheiter is getting on with her separation from Travis Mullen. The two decided to live in separate homes but still date after the baby-momma drama became too much for the Long Island native.

What surprised me the most was how much I invested myself in Emily Simpson’s storyline. The lawyer was snatching souls left and right, and I am going to need that to continue into Season 19. It was also nice to see Emily in a more vulnerable state after Heather triggered her at the fashion show. Thankfully, Season 19 is right around the corner, which means fans will soon know how everyone is getting on and why they made the perfect cast to invite back once again.

The Real Housewives of Orange County is available to stream on Peacock.
