I imagine it is hard at times to be a star on the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Up until now, Meredith Marks has made it look pretty easy. But Season 5 has really ruffled her feathers, and I don’t know if she can recover. It might be best for her to let her snowflake melt and start anew. Only time will tell, but from the season finale, I think Mer might need a vacation from the vacation.
Meredith Marks is a disruptor
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City show doesn’t serve Meredith anymore. Throughout Season 5, I kept finding myself scratching my head due to some of Mer’s outlandish outbursts. During the first half of the season, she literally gave nothing to the screen. The mother of three sat idly in the back as newbies like Britani Bateman took the wheel. I used to like Meredith for her down-to-earth advice. During Season 1, she seemed to stick to her roots. But she has changed drastically. Season 5 showed a side of the Bravoleb that I thought might have been better off staying hidden.
Meredith had multiple interactions where she used her “You can leave” mantra. But she seemed to go from zero to 100. A great example for my argument was the scene at Mary Cosby’s home when the preacher asked both Mer and Angie Katsanevas to settle down. Mary asked both friends to stop acting disruptively in her home, and the jewelry designer took it personally. I’d argue she even tried to gaslight Mary. In these moments, I fear that Meredith will come across as the worst kind of friend.
Meredith Marks isn’t involved with the cast
After the season finale, it has become clear that Meredith doesn’t want to include herself in cast dynamics. First, fans watched as she gave no reaction to Lisa Barlow’s mean-girl text comment. She instead brushed it off, and within two seconds, the table had moved on to its next victim. I mean if you’re getting the big Bravo paycheck, put a little effort in. Interacting with your fellow Real Housewives is a crucial part of the show’s dynamic. As the game escalated, Mer eventually stormed off.
To be honest, I am not even sure what she was mad at. She started yelling at producers that she was “done,” and then she walked off in a huff. If anything, her exit was anti-climatic. I wish she had taken a page from Mary’s book. As Real Housewives of Salt Lake City fans will recall, during Season 1, Mary refused to interact with her co-stars. And chose not to appear at the reunion. Usually, this is the kiss of death for any Bravoleb. But Mary has redeemed herself. Season 5 showed her interacting with everyone and even opening up about her troubles. It was a whole new Mary, and I’d like to see a new Meredith if possible.
Meredith Marks explodes at the reunion
Sadly, no safe word (besos!) could control these women during the three-part Real Housewives of Salt Lake City reunion. More than once, Meredith is shown yelling at her co-stars, including Britani. One clip shows the newly bat mitzvah’d housewife telling the actress, “I don’t care. I’m not going to let you spread lies about me.” It is clear that Mer was activated and at her breaking point.
Andy Cohen is heard telling Seth Marks, “You have a side chick in Ohio.” Seth has been traveling a lot due to his job, and fans already know that the couple chose to separate once. Cameras pan to Meredith, who noted, “I’m getting angry. The whole reason I came here was not for this.” To be honest, Mer was so mad her head was bouncing around like a bobblehead (I bet it took everything Mary had not to point that out). The former lawyer then notes, “I am finished.” Needless to say, the reunion was tense. And it looks like it could be the end of Meredith, and maybe it should be. The show seems to be stressing her out and no paycheck is worth that, right?
