Now that the Vanderpump Rules we have come to know is gone, so are some of the friendships. At least they are for Lala Kent.
The polarizing reality star had her fair share of conflict with her castmates and it ultimately left her on an island of her own. But Lala, who recently found herself out of her VPR job along with the rest of the OG cast, remains unfazed.
Lala Kent wants to keep her circle small
During a recent appearance on Scheana Shay’s podcast Scheananigans, Lala explained why she’s fine with not being everyone’s friend.
“I’ve always said I like my circle to be small,” Lala stated. “And the smaller the better.”
She added, “I’d like to get it down [even more] because then I know there’s no liabilities. We’re all safe. I like quality over quantity. I’ve always been this way.”
Lala’s commentary comes after social media came for her and accused her of having no friends.
“[That is] not an insult. It’s a fact and thank God. I have the people that I need,” the mom-of-two responded. “And if any one of them at some point doesn’t bring me peace or I feel I don’t wanna bring them peace, then I look forward to throwing gasoline on the bridge and lighting a fire. It’s like my favorite thing to do.”
Lala’s 2015 debut on Pump Rules was a rocky one. Longtime friends and coworkers saw the new hostess as a threat. She didn’t do much to mitigate their assumptions either. Lala was known for pushing the envelope of flirting and starting drama with anyone who approached her.
Eventually, she settled in and formed what seemed to be some real friendships. At the very least, they were alliances. That came to a screeching halt once Scandoval rocked the already drama-filled show.
When castmate and It-Girl Ariana Madix refused to film with ex-boyfriend Tom Sandoval, Lala had a major issue with it. After publicly criticizing Ariana, social media hit back and hit back hard. But Lala is firm in how she defines her friends.
“I’ve got my circle right where I want it to be. It’s not that I for some reason am forgetting all of the bad stuff that happened. I’m sure other people have not,” she concluded. “But I don’t think I need to reach out to anybody. I’m happy in the space that I’m in.”
Vanderpump Rules is currently streaming on Peacock.
