Ariana Grande Shows Support for Selena Gomez for Recent Golden Globes Nomination

Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez had lovely things to say about each other after they each received Golden Globe nominations. Grande and Gomez are among the list of nominees for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for their films “Wicked” and “Emilia Pérez.” Others in the same list include Gomez’s costar Zoe Saldaña, Felicity Jones for “The Brutalist,” Margaret Qualley for “The Substance,” and Isabella Rossellini for “Conclave.”

On Tuesday, Grande and Gomez sat side-by-side at the Academy Women’s Luncheon and spoke to Variety about their excitement. They even mentioned to Variety that they congratulated each other over texts and sent voice messages, shortly after hearing the announcements. In fact, Gomez claimed her fellow nominee was one of the first to congratulate her.

Selena Gomez confirmed to Variety that Ariana Grande was one of the first people to congratulate her on the Golden Globes nomination. She revealed that Grande texted her with the “sweetest note” sometime around 6 a.m. and they sent “each other voice messages.” Gomez called their interaction “very exciting.” She then noted that besides Grande, her boyfriend, Benny Blanco, also messaged her around the same time to congratulate her on this accomplishment.

Meanwhile, the “Wicked” star expressed how much she loved “watching this moment happen for Selena.” She also acknowledged and resonated with Gomez’s hard work and patience, claiming, “I know that feeling.” Additionally, Grande remarked, “So when you can reach out to your friends in the industry and say, ‘Great work, congratulations,’ why not do it?” She finally talked about not knowing Gomez as much as she wished she did before professing her excitement “to sit next to her” for the Academy luncheon.

Among other things, Ariana Grande spoke about respecting and adoring Selena Gomez, calling their Golden Globes nominations “very special.” The outlet also confirmed that she had specially requested to sit next to Gomez for the event. Besides these two acclaimed musicians, others in attendance included Pamela Anderson, Gal Gadot, Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis, Olivia Wilde, Erin Foster, and Academy President Janet Yang.
