Let’s be honest. No one is looking to Shep Rose as a shining example of good behavior. After watching him for 10 seasons on Southern Charm, you should know better. Still, the Bravo universe was shocked at how sloppy he got at BravoCon 2023.
Las Vegas got the best of him, and he recently opened up about how he learned his lesson from his messy behavior. Supposedly, he’s a changed man, and he has Andy Cohen and ayahuasca to thank for it.
Shep Rose has changed for the better after a BravoCon wake up call
Even if you didn’t go to BravoCon 2023, you probably heard about Shep’s behavior. He got black-out drunk throughout the weekend, annoyed a Real Housewives star, and made a total ass of himself. In an interview with People, Shep said he felt like he had hit a new low.
“I was on my couch in a ball and wondering what the F just happened, and was really mad at myself,” Shep recalled.
“There was no giant incidents or anything like that, but I could tell that people weren’t all that enchanted with my time in Las Vegas, and I wasn’t either,” he continued. “Things had felt like they were coming to a head, and I was a little frightened and didn’t know what to do and who to talk to about it other than immediate family.”
According to Shep, his Southern Charm besties felt “fed up” with him. They had zero interest in offering support, which is questionable. Thankfully, he had Andy in his corner to offer some words of advice.
“He was cool, but was like, ‘Hey, I want you to be on this channel for as long as you want. We love you, but you can’t do that in front of this person, that person. You just got to be way more cognizant,’” Shep recalled of his conversation with Andy.
Although Shep had Andy in his corner, he knew he needed to dig deeper to get to the root of his drinking. So, he decided to travel to Costa Rica for an “ayahuasca retreat.” He said it was “revelatory.”
“Everything opened up,” Shep recalled of his experience with the psychedelic plant.
Shep just returned to our TVs in the Southern Charm Season 10 premiere, fresh from his “spiritual journey” in Costa Rica. He’s hoping to rebuild his friendships and continue on this healthier path. We’re wishing him the best!
Southern Charm airs Thursday nights on Bravo at 9/8c.
