Vanderpump Rules fans learned that they would be getting a Season 12. However, the news came at a price, as no original cast members would be welcomed back. Since 2013, the series has been a staple for the network, with fans often committing to the long ride. Nothing seemed to top the fights behind SUR in the alley. But after Scandoval broke, something had to change. After hearing the news, I couldn’t help but wonder if anyone had checked on Scheana Shay. She was still recovering from her self-imposed Dancing with the Stars snub, and I was just worried that our little pop singer would be curled up in a ball, crying.
Scheana Shay started Vanderpump Rules
It is easy for Vanderpump Rules viewers to forget that we wouldn’t have a show based on the SUR employees if it weren’t for Scheana. In Season 3 of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Brandi Glanville faced her ex-husband’s mistress, who just happened to be the Good as Gold singer. The talk turned emotional as a very young Scheana seemed to have been led astray by the actor. The former RHOBH star tore the waitress a new one but also added her two cents, noting she wanted Scheana to respect herself and move forward.
Scheana’s relationship with Eddie Cibrian, who was a very married man, contributed to the creation of Vanderpump Rules. The series was green-lit after Scheana tried to be the bigger person when confronting Brandi during her boss’ lunch. However, I don’t think Scheana was given the proper respect for being an OG. In her small cameo, Scheana single-handedly delivered such drama that both Lisa Vanderpump and Bravo knew they could mold her and the others into stars. Frankly, Scheana walked so Vanderpump Rules could run.
Here’s why I’m sad for Scheana Shay
Even though Scheana should have been treated like the queen she is, Bravo and her co-stars often overlooked her. With heavy hitters like Stassi Schroeder and Jax Taylor, Scheana often had difficulty keeping her head afloat. In the early days, when she tried to make herself known, the older girls frequently tormented her. Even though Stassi and Scheana are good now, who remembers, “I’m not really sure what I did to you, but I’ll take a Pinot Grigio.” As a fan, I appreciate what Scheana has brought to Vanderpump Rules. For me, Scheana was the heart of the show.
The mother of one often puts herself out there, and she makes sure to put others out there, too. I mean, she did expose her ex-husband’s pill addiction on national TV. A true fan just can’t deny that she made for some great TV moments. And even though it was cringey, Scheana’s constant attempt to suck up to those who she felt were at the top of the food chain never got old. To hit the nail on the head, Scheana lives for the show instead of living on the show. But for her, it worked.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel for Scheana Shay
So, even though Vanderpump Rules is officially getting a reboot, Scheana might just land on her feet. She’s like a cat with nine lives, this woman. Luckily, The Valley, a VPR spinoff, did exceptionally well during its premiere season. And like they say, when a door closes, a window is cracked. Filming for Season 2 wrapped in September and had cameos from Lala Kent, Scheana, and Tom Schwartz. To be honest, I was hoping The Valley wouldn’t include a crossover, but I was wrong about the series being a hit, so I am probably wrong about adding former Vanderpump Rules stars, too.
This means Scheana has another lease on life. Even though she will no longer be the star of the show, there is a chance for her to get her toe back into the Bravo door. Scheana is close with most of the cast and is one of the only ones still going strong within her marriage to Brock Davies. So, the lateral move back to The Valley makes sense for the singer. I don’t doubt my girl. Scheana is like a cockroach (and I mean this in the nicest way) when it comes to reality TV; she can’t be killed. She has been a hustler from day one and isn’t about to let a canceled show bring her down.
