Kathy Griffin has some ideas on how to spice up ABC’s The Golden Bachelorette.
Appearing on the November 25 episode of iHeart’s Politickin’ podcast, Kathy joked that she’s already mapping out her next career move for when her tour ends. She’s currently touring in My Life on the PTSD List standup show.
Speaking with hosts Gavin Newsom and Doug Hendrickson, Kathy pitched some very Kathy Griffin concepts for her next job.
Kathy dishes on Andy Cohen as a boss and what’s next
When Governor Newsome asked Kathy where her relationship is today with former boss Andy Cohen, Kathy admitted, “I’m not his cup of tea, and it hurts. It just hurts.”
“That’s a tough one,” she continued. “Like I said, he was my boss, and I got canned. I loved working at Bravo. I loved doing specials, and I had a talk show there for two seasons. And [her series] My Life on the D-List was Emmy-nominated every season and won twice.”
In fact, Kathy’s show ran for six seasons on Bravo, even though she says now that Andy was a “miserable boss.” That’s a pretty good run.
Kathy wants to be The Golden Bachelorette
Moving on with the conversation, Doug asked if Kathy has love in her life these days. Kathy and her ex-husband, Randy Bick, divorced in 2023 after nearly four years of marriage.
“Excuse me? I think I should be the next Golden Bachelorette,” she quipped. As she elaborated on some of the changes she would make to the format, her hosts laughed that it didn’t sound very family-friendly.
“It’s not,” she agreed. “Okay, so the current one is great. I love her.”
But she went add to say, “Kathy Griffin’s The Golden Bachelorette, the first episode where there’s the most bachelors and the most roses, I f*ck each one. Each one, and then I decide.”
Kathy claimed her version would be “ratings gold.”
Doug, a sports agent, offered his help. “I know people at The Bachelor … Maybe we can make that happen.”
Kathy Griffin’s had some tough times the past few years. She lost her job, she was placed on the no-fly list, she lost her mom, and she survived a cancer diagnosis. But the woman is 64 and she’s still standing after all she’s been through. That’s kind of amazing.
The Golden Bachelorette is now streaming on Hulu.
