Tonight’s episode of Survivor was jam-packed with drama. Promises were broken, plans changed, and one player orchestrated her third blindside of the season.

Last week, the Gata tribe lost Sierra thanks to Genevieve’s master plan. Sam and Rachel were left without an ally, weakening the once-dominant Gata tribe, and Andy found new life in the game as a double agent.

This week, another player fell victim to ringmaster Genevieve as she helped send another strong player home without warning.

If you missed tonight’s episode, don’t worry, we have you covered.

Here is everything that happened on Survivor 47, Episode 9.

What happened on Survivor 47, Episode 9?

The castaways once again competed for power in tonight’s episode. Gabe won his first Individual Immunity Challenge, while Caroline lost her vote. Back at camp, the castaways talked targets. There were about 4 different names thrown out but in the end, the group settled on Sol, who became the 9th person to leave the Island.

Keep reading for a more detailed recap of tonight’s episode.

Sam and Rachel regroup after losing Sierra

Episode 9 began with a conversation between Gata members Sam and Rachel, who just lost their ally Sierra in a shocking blindside. Sam is upset about the vote and says he and Rachel cannot trust anyone.

I understand Sam’s feelings at this moment, but I think he will come to realize Sierra’s elimination may have improved his chances in the game. His threat level has decreased now that the “Gata duo” is no more.

Her elimination gives him space to make new relationships and strengthen fractured ones. You can argue he lost two allies because Andy flipped on him, but I don’t think that relationship is entirely lost. Sam should blame Sierra for sidelining Andy and forge a new path with his scorned ally. Sierra’s absence may also strengthen his relationship with Rachel.

Rachel explains her Shot In the Dark move

After Sam is done complaining about the Lavo Liars, we finally learn why Rachel used her Shot In the Dark.

In a confessional, she says she had a bad feeling during Tribal Council but wasn’t sure if she was the target. She decided to use her Shot In the Dark to see how the castaways would react. She suspected she was safe because of their calm demeanor when she played it, so she decided to hold onto her Immunity Idol.

This is a brilliant strategy and has strengthened my already fond feelings about Rachel’s gameplay. She’s proving to be quite a strategic player. Unfortunately, she’s not skating by undetected. Caroline and Genevieve have clocked how intelligent she is and tried to make her the target last week. Her relationships with Sol and Teeny saved her, but who knows what will happen if she’s vulnerable this week…

Rachel and Andy form a new alliance

Andy goes on a damage-control tour after blindsiding his former tribe members. He tries to smooth things over with Sam, who doesn’t seem ready to talk game with him quite yet. His conversation with Rachel goes better. She knows it’s better to have Andy as a friend than an enemy. They decide to work together in the game.

She asks Andy who he is worried about and he says Kyle because he’s won so many challenges. Rachel agrees and says Caroline and Sue would be down to assist them in getting him out if he ever loses a challenge.

Kyle isn’t the only Tuku member in trouble this week. Sam has a conversation with Lavo, who suggests they take out Gabe this week. They think he’s a sneaky player and would prefer to take him out sooner rather than later. As a Kyle stan, I’m so relieved to hear this plan. I found myself nodding at the TV screen. Yes, go for Gabe!

Who won the Survivor 47, Episode 9 Immunity Challenge?

Tonight the castaways competed in pairs. The first two pairs to fall lost their vote and the final two pairs won a food reward. Once only two pairs were remaining, the challenge transformed into an Individual Immunity Challenge where only one castaway was granted safety. In the end, Gabe won out against comp beast Kyle. Teeny, Sol, and Kyle joined Gabe for a Survivor feast, while Sam, Andy, Caroline, and Rachel went on a journey in hopes of getting their lost vote back.

The four players who lost their vote competed in a challenge to regain their power. Sam, Andy, and Rachel won their vote back, while Caroline remained voteless.

Who went home on Survivor 47, Episode 9?

Back at camp, the castaways scrambled to come up with a name. Most of the group wanted Sam to be the vote but Genevieve had a different idea. She pitched flipping on her fellow Lavo member Sol. I love her so much. She brought in Tuku, who agreed to vote with her. She made the mistake of telling Rachel, who told the plan to Sam. He promised not to tell anyone but, of course, he ran to Sol and told him everything. The two tried to flip the vote on a Tuku member last minute but they were unsuccessful.

At Tribal, Sol was the 9th person voted out of Survivor 47.

Survivor airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
