Real Housewives of New York viewers have only just been introduced to Racquel Chevremont, but she is quickly becoming an open book. And just because Racquel is considered the “LeBron of the art world” doesn’t mean she doesn’t have feelings like every other mortal, as fans quickly learned when she opened up about her father.
Racquel Chevremont had a heartbreaking childhood
The RHONY women were learning how to play tennis when they became interested in Racquel’s background. They asked how she came about to have a French last name. The curator shared, “Puerto Ricans are very mixed. But the French name that I have isn’t my father’s last name. I have absolutely no relationship with my father.” Brynn Whitfield and Jessel Taank hung on to every word, and Racquel explained that her mother left her birth father when she was one.

“So when I was 11, I wanted to know who my father was,” she added. The RHONY newbie shared, “My mother reached out to his brother and got his number. And I called, and a woman picked up. So she asked who I was, and I said I was his daughter. That didn’t go over well. And then I got a call from him telling me never to call the house again.”
If that story wasn’t traumatic enough, Racquel revealed that at 12, she was invited to a Thanksgiving meal where she met a step-sister and a brother, but at the end of the night, her father handed each sibling a photo and said: “nice knowing you.” Tearfully, Racquel recalled, “And so I went home and said, ‘I don’t want this man’s name. I’m going to do some sh*t with my life.” The NY fashionista broke down, saying her mother wouldn’t let her take her surname because her grandfather wasn’t a good man either. The mother of two shared, “So we just went down the family line and found a name.” Racquel shared that was the last time she spoke to her father, and she had no clue what he had been doing all these years.
