RHONJ Alum Dina Manzo’s Ex-Husband Thomas Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison

Real Housewives of New Jersey alum Dina Cantin (formerly Manzo) can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Her ex-husband, Thomas “Tommy” Manzo, was formally sentenced to seven years in prison for his role in hiring an alleged mobster to assault Dina’s current husband, David Cantin. Tommy was ordered back to jail to begin serving his time immediately.

Tommy faced multiple charges including conspiracy to commit a violent crime and racketeering. In 2015, Dina’s husband David was attacked outside a New Jersey strip mall by an assailant, later identified as John Perna. Allegedly, John had mob ties and beat David in exchange for a discounted wedding reception at Tommy’s RHONJ-famous catering venue, The Brownstone.

Tommy was accused of hiring John to retaliate against Dina for moving on. He allegedly wanted to give David “a permanent facial scar.”

Tommy tried to negotiate a plea deal and had an indictment thrown out. However, a jury found him guilty of “hiring, then assisting, a soldier in the Lucchese Crime Family to assault” David.

Yesterday, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger issued a press release announcing Tommy’s 84-month prison sentence with three years of supervised release.

A statement from Attorney Sellinger to Tommy included in the document read, “Whether you’re actually in the Mafia or not, hiring the mob to assault someone because of your marital problems is abhorrent. Covering up the role you played only makes it worse. The jury’s verdict and today’s sentence make clear that this office will spare no resources to hold accountable anyone who commits such crimes.”

Dina posted a quote to her Instagram Story yesterday. It seemingly summed up her gratitude for the support she’s received during this almost-decade-long ordeal.

It read, “Because at the end of the day, the right people fight for you. The right people show up. The right people care, not only when life is convenient, but when it is difficult and messy and it aches all over.”

The Real Housewives of New Jersey streams on Peacock.
