Bravo tends to favor ensemble shows rather than series centered on one person. Long gone are the days of Kathy Griffin: My Life on The D-List. Ensemble shows like Real Housewives and Vanderpump Rules have proven to be very successful, so the network’s affinity for them makes perfect sense. However, I can’t help by daydream about a few of my favorite Bravo stars getting their own show.
Here are five Bravo stars I think could headline a show…
Brynn Whitfield – Real Housewives of New York
Brynn Whitfield is the It girl of Real Housewives of New York. She’s flirty, she’s fun, and she knows how to dress. She’s basically Carrie Bradshaw.
On the surface, she may seem like any other NYC party girl but there’s so much more beneath the exterior. The woman has about 100 different hobbies, from playing chess to collecting first-edition books. She’s also resilient. In Season 14 of RHONY, she opened up about her difficult childhood and growing up biracial in a predominantly white area. Fans appreciated Brynn’s vulnerability on the show and praised her for being so open with viewers.
While I love watching Brynn mix it up with all the RHONY ladies, I would be down to watch a show all about her. A show centered around her dating life would be endlessly entertaining. The girl is made for reality television. Get on it, Andy Cohen!
Mary Cosby – Real Housewives of Salt Lake City
I’m so glad Mary Cosby is back on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. She is truly one of a kind and I never get tired of watching her read the women to filth.
I, like many viewers, have questions about Mary’s life and career that RHOSLC doesn’t have time to answer. The show can’t do a deep dive into her marriage to her step-grandfather or explore the controversy surrounding her church. We only get glimpses and that is not enough for me. I would die to watch a show all about Mary. There were times I was laughing out loud watching her on Season 4 of RHOSLC. If Mary had her own show, we may finally get answers to questions like, “Is your son actually married?” and “Why do people say your church is a cult?”
Bethenny Frankel – Real Housewives of New York
Love her or hate her, Bethenny Frankel makes great TV. I believe there are few people better at being a Real Housewife than Bethenny. She’s messy and dramatic but her signature wit makes it impossible not to root for her. Her RHONY confessionals are cemented in my brain and I admit I miss having her on my TV screen. That said, Bethenny has had several shows since leaving RHONY and one has yet to stick.
I think a Bethenny-centered spinoff on Bravo is not in the cards given her current relationship with the network. She has not been on good terms with Bravo since she launched her “Reality Reckoning” series. The Skinny Girl Founder has taken jabs at Andy and the network for displaying inappropriate workplace behavior. Andy shared his thoughts on her initiative in a June interview with Vulture, calling it a “sustained attack.”
“There was a lot of noise. And I was definitely sad about it,” he told the outlet.
While it’s unlikely we’ll see B back on Bravo, maybe we’ll see her pop up on a different network.
Erika Jayne – Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne was right when she said, “I’m an enigma, wrapped in a riddle, and cash.” She has certainly lived an interesting life and has what it takes to lead her show. In March, Erika starred in a two-hour Bravo documentary titled, “Erika Jayne: Bet It All on Blonde.” I thoroughly enjoyed the doc and it made me want to see more content about the “XXPEN$IVE” Singer. The series focused on the lead-up to her Las Vegas residency. It captured her hard work and dedication to putting on a great show.
She spoke about the Bravo project in an interview with Deadline.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch me rebuild, reimagine, rebirth, and to do it in the place that I love the most, which is on stage,” she told the outlet in March. EJ added, “This is a safe space. This is my place, this is my world, my home, my show, my people that I’ve chosen to be around me [and] to create this amazing piece that we put together.”
The documentary did feel like a more authentic representation of her compared to how she’s portrayed on RHOBH. I would like to see more of that.
Jenna Lyons – Real Housewives of New York
RHONY star Jenna Lyons may be one of the most successful “Housewives” to ever grace the franchise. She was already a household name before the show, due to her impressive career in the fashion industry. She left her job at J. Crew in 2017 but has kept busy embarking on new endeavors like her eyelash line.
I think Bravo should take full advantage of having a Fashion icon on their payroll. I would love to see a design show hosted by Jenna. She has a lot of wisdom about the industry to pass down to a young generation of designers. I’m thinking Project Runway meets The Rachel Zoe Project. No need to thank me for the genius idea Bravo, just make it happen.
