Something About Her is officially the place to be! The sandwich shop of friends and business partners Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney is open to the public after two years and now the girls are busy running it and juggling work commitments. And that means carrying the load when one or the other is busy. These days, Katie is keeping an eye on the store while Ariana is pursuing several job opportunities.
Ariana has been very busy. The Vanderpump Rules star has enjoyed a TV hosting gig and several stints on Broadway that have her out of town quite often. But she doesn’t need to worry, Katie is there to hold down the fort at SAH while she is away.
They’ve got each other’s backs
Ariana is grateful for the work and admits it wouldn’t be possible without Katie’s support. Ariana spoke about their partnership in a recent interview with Interview and Kristin Chenoweth and she was nothing but praises for her business partner.
“I’m really lucky and grateful that Katie, my business partner, is incredible,” Ariana shared. “She’s holding down the fort killing it every day in LA, while I am here in New York. When we get to be in the shop together, it’s always the best.”
She continued to gush about the shop and Katie. “I love her so much. We have the best team (at SAH). We have the best employees. It’s just a really lovely place to get to spend the day and meet everyone coming in.”
When asked what sandwich she would recommend, Ariana responded, “The Conrad. It’s like our version of an Italian.”
Feel like a main character at Something About Her
Ariana and Katie first began teasing their sandwich shop during VPR Season 9 saying they wanted to create a unique eatery. And while the road to opening may not have always run smooth, the doors have finally opened on the cute cafe based on a Nancy Meyers film.
The girls even got the set designer from the films to help design their location for that authentic feel.
“We wanted that ‘main character’ delusional energy in life every single day,” Katie shared. “We wanted to romanticize lunch and just be able to transport yourself. So someone suggested I go to the set designer for her films and I emailed him and he was available. The universe was really on our side.”
And despite some bumps along the way, it looks like the ladies are hitting their stride.
