There’s another Affleck making a name for himself. Zac Affleck and his wife, TikTok star Jen Affleck, star in Hulu’s new reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Zac is Ben Affleck and Casey Affleck’s first cousin once removed.
The premiere of the series follows a sex scandal that rocked a group of Mormon mom influencers in 2022.
“I’m excited to talk about the things that have happened in my relationship,” Jen told People ahead of the series premiere. “It feels like we got ten years of marriage counseling in this one season of filming.”
Ben Affleck’s cousin on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives?
Zac and Jen share two small children, a son and a daughter. Jen has more than a million followers on TikTok. She’s known for her mom content and for poking fun at her husband’s famous relatives (Zac’s father and Ben and Casey are first cousins). Jen is also a member of the #MomTok community.
According to Hulu’s official show synopsis, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives follows “the scandalous world of a group of Mormon mom influencers [that] implodes when they get caught in the middle of a swinging sex scandal that makes international headlines.”
“Now, their sisterhood is shook to the core,” the synopsis continues. “Faith, friendship, and reputations are all on the line. Will #MomTok be able to survive … or will this group fall from grace?”
It all started in 2022 when Taylor Frankie Paul, announced she was divorcing her now ex-husband, Tate Paul. At the time, she revealed that they had been participating in a “soft swinging” lifestyle with some of their friends, including some of her fellow MomTok influencers. Apparently, “soft swinging” involves engaging in relationships with other married couples, but stops short of penetrative sex.
The couple initially agreed not to “go all the way” with another partner. Sadly, Taylor admits that she “did step out of that agreement.”
Hope at “rock bottom”
After announcing her divorce in May 2022, Taylor introduced her new boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, in July. He was the guy she “cheated with,” she explained. Taylor and Dakota recently welcomed her third child.
“I want people to have a better understanding of who I am,” she said. “I wanted to be vulnerable and show people that when you hit rock bottom, there is hope.”
In addition to the scandal, Taylor was arrested in February 2023 on misdemeanor charges of assault, criminal mischief, and domestic violence in the presence of a child during a fight with Dakota.
Taylor pled guilty in August of that year to aggravated assault. The remaining charges were dropped.
“Oh, my heck,” as they say in Utah. It’s no wonder Taylor has over 4 million TikTok followers!
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives premieres September 6 on Hulu.
