We just got our first look at the Dance Moms reboot, and unfortunately, it looks just as messy as the original. Dance Moms: A New Era is bringing a whole new batch of kids to the reality TV world along with their overdramatic parents as they fight to be the best of the best in the world of youth competitive dance.
In the new Dance Moms reboot, Abby Lee Miller has been replaced by her former rival, Gloria “Glo” Hampton. It’s a new person at the head of things, but she’s pulling right out of Abby’s playbook with a fierce attitude and an expectation for perfection. Of course, that leads to tension amongst the moms, and in the trailer, we see things getting physical between a couple of them.
New era, same shenanigans
After the original Dance Moms cast had a reunion talking about all of the trauma inflicted upon them by Abby, we expected that to be the end of this franchise. However, the trailer for the Hulu reboot shows that nobody learned their lesson from the first run of Dance Moms. The dance world is just as chaotic and toxic as ever.
“In six short weeks, we’re going to Nationals,” Glo told her students in the trailer, setting the stage for what’s to come. “We are in no way ready for that.”
Glo said that her one goal is to win a national title, so she’s putting all of that pressure on a bunch of children. Just like in the original series, the pressure on the kids bubbles over to the moms, and that’s when things get really wild. In the clip, there’s a tease of a heated confrontation between two moms, with one of them getting slapped right across the face.
“I dare you to come at me,” one of the moms said in the trailer before all hell broke loose.
So, if you want to see a new generation of young girls and their moms traumatize themselves for 15 minutes of fame and a national title, Hulu has you covered.
Dance Moms: A New Era premieres on Hulu on August 7.
