Aesha Scott Found Working With Captain Sandy ‘Very Similar’ to Captain Jason

As we all know, the always lovable Aesha Scott has returned home to star on Below Deck Mediterranean. Her first ever Bravo boss was Captain Sandy Yawn, and the pair worked well together over a few different seasons. Therefore, her homecoming back to this series came as a welcomed surprise. However, after working for Captain Sandy, Aesha jumped yachts, joining Captain Jason Chambers spin-off as his Chief Stew on Below Deck Down Under.

Aesha and Captain Jason’s friendship helped to shape the course of BDDU. They joked often, and it seemed like they could even read each other’s thoughts. I mean, these two even became close enough for Aesha to be able to change out his contacts. That’s why Aesha’s return to Below Deck Med was a bit shocking, but as luck would have it, she’s also found this same type of companionship back on BDM with Captain Sandy.

Aesha is thriving in the Med

In speaking with US Weekly, Aesha gushed that “it was so special” to be back on Captain Sandy’s series. But also, “It was very nerve-wracking, just because I put so much pressure on myself to impress her because I worked with her as a second stew, then I went away,” she added. She then stated that she respected the heck out of Captain Sandy. And that being with her again was “ahmaaazzzing,” without any signs of micromanaging, as the comments sometimes like to report.

On working with Captain Sandy after making such a strong connection with Captain Jason, Aesha explains that these two are “actually very similar.” With Captain Jason, they “obviously built up this kind of sibling relationship [where we are] making fun of each other,” Aesha recalled. In comparison, “the same thing happened with her [Captain Sandy] over the season, as we did become siblings. Or maybe a young mom and her older daughter,” Aesha joked.

“We also developed this really lovely banter and playful relationship. I feel so grateful that I’ve gotten to experience that with two different captains,” Aesha ended. We’re grateful for this too, Aesha. Because if anyone in the Below Deck franchise deserves a happy ending (with all puns intended), it’s Aesha.

Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9 continues every Monday at 9/8c on Bravo.
