Love Island Star Jack Fowler Suffers Allergic Reaction on Flight: ‘My Throat Closed Up’

Well, this is absolutely terrifying. Love Island star Jack Fowler just revealed a near-death experience he endured while traveling on an Emirates flight to Dubai. Jack suffers from a nut allergy, and apparently, the fight crew didn’t take that information seriously until it was almost too late.

A mid-flight emergency

“Can’t believe I’m having to post this,” Jack wrote. “I’m posting because people should be aware of the severity of how bad food allergies can be.”

According to Jack, the flight crew served him a chicken curry dish. He asked if there were nuts in it, and they said no. Unfortunately, they were very wrong. It was “Creamy Cashew Nut Chicken Curry.”

“Immediately my throat closed up and breathing became extremely difficult,” he recalled. “I told a flight attendant I couldn’t breathe and if there was nuts in the food. I was told that there were no nuts in the chicken curry AGAIN.”

Within moments, Jack felt like there was a “real possibility” of dying on the plane. The flight crew had to administer five tanks of oxygen and an Epi-Pen. However, his reaction was so severe that he needed actual medical attention that you can’t get when you’re 35,000 feet in the air.

He recalled, “I told the flight supervisor, ‘If you don’t land this plane soon, I will die on this plane.’ This then led to the pilot speeding up the journey.”

Once the plane landed in Dubai, Jack was taken to a hospital to receive additional treatment. He’s made a full recovery, but it’s safe to say that trip was completely ruined. Now, he’s trying to advocate for airlines to take food allergies more seriously. Was a sprinkle of cashews in the curry really worth all of this?

Jack wrote, “I hope all airlines and cabin crew who come across this post take note. We board your flights and trust the cabin crew to aid us in a safe flight. Take more care.”

TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON JACK’S EXPERIENCE WITH? SHOULD AIRLINES STOP SERVING FOOD WITH NUTS TO PREVENT THESE TYPES OF ACCIDENTS?
