Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9 got off to a dramatic start with Captain Sandy Yawn grilling one of her stews over a problem with the chef. And Captain Lee Rosbach had a problem with it.
See, it was about midnight when the guests decided they wanted some snacks – grilled cheese, nachos, and mac and cheese. So, one of the stews tried to wake the chef a few times. But the chef said he needed his sleep.
Things were getting hectic as the stew tried to fulfill the order on her own. The preview for next week’s episode saw Sandy burst in and say, “Never wake the chef.” So, what were Captain Lee’s thoughts on the matter?
Captain Lee puts his guests first
On June 4, a fan tweeted at Captain Lee, asking him if it was true that one should “never wake the chef.” The next day, Lee quote tweeted the question and answered, “If the guests want it and the stews can’t handle it, of course you wake the chef. So to answer in short No it’s not true, at least no on my boat [sic].” So, there we have it.
Of course, just because Captain Lee runs his boats one way doesn’t mean that’s the only way they should run. Granted, Lee’s answer makes sense. Everyone on the liner works for tips, so, in general, the first priority should be keeping the guests happy. Hence why Captain Lee opened his response with “If the guests want it.”
Still, it’s not all that surprising that Captain Lee found himself disagreeing with Captain Sandy. The two have rarely seen eye to eye. Captain Sandy went as far as to say that Lee had “never supported” her. She further asserted that Lee was “a man in a man’s world who doesn’t like a woman being a captain, to be honest.”
Below Deck Med continues Mondays at 9/8c on Bravo.
