Season 14 of Real Housewives of New Jersey was tough for everybody, including Teresa Giudice. But for her brother, Joe Gorga, and his wife, Melissa Gorga, this could have been one of the most difficult years on camera. Thankfully, everyone survived.
During a recent episode of Melissa’s podcast, On Display, the couple responded to a fan’s question about the ups and downs of filming the current season. For Joe, he mentioned filming his birthday and officiating his sister-in-law’s wedding. Melissa, on the other hand, said she was grateful that the cameras were able to film their daughter moving into college.
“The fact that I have that documented for me is huge. Because there would never be anyone just filming Joe and I drop our daughter off, right,” she said. Later, Joe said was the “worst” moment for him. “Because it’s pretty sad,” he said.
Joe and Melissa are fighting with Teresa as well
After Melissa and Joe skipped Teresa’s wedding during Season 13, the reality family has vowed never to speak to each other again. During a September 2022 interview, Teresa said she’d never reconcile with her brother after their fallout. “No, no, no, that’s really it,” she said. “That’s it.”
We heard mumblings that filming Season 14 was uncomfortable for many of the ladies. “It’s not an easy navigation. Never was,” Melissa said in December 2023. She continued in a different interview, saying the sisters-in-law have been in the same room. However, they weren’t interested in speaking to each other.
“We have been in the same room together. I don’t know who is saying that we haven’t,” she said. “We both have zero desire to communicate, and I think it’s better that way. Like, boundaries,” she said.
With the Gorgas and Giudices staying out of each other’s way for this new season, Melissa promised viewers would see something different in the upcoming batch of episodes. “… it’s refreshing,” she said, after saying the fans were “sick of the family drama.”
