Who would have thought so much adulting went into living at the Summer House house-share? Those parties take a lot more planning than just doing a liquor run and blowing up some balloons.
Well, several of the Summer House core cast members revealed that a lot of budgeting and inventory goes on behind-the-scenes.
“We do it all,” Kyle teased
Kyle Cooke, Amanda Batula, sat alongside Ciara Miller, and Carl Radke to exclusively share with People what goes into managing the house.
“I feel like people think the food magically pops up, the parties magically throw themselves and people magically show up,” the Loverboy founder said. “We do it all.”
“I feel like by the time we get back, it’s already time to go again,” Ciara said of the hectic filming schedule. And there are tasks to be done before closing up the house for the work week.
“Every week I would do an inventory of what was in the pantry and I would make note of anything we needed more of,” Amanda said.
Carl, who has a penchant for “excel spreadsheets,” said the program is very useful, alongside “group texts [and] payment apps.”
The professional model described how the Summer House location is “like a real share house.” Ciara added, “We’re fighting and figuring out who’s going to order. People are like, ‘I’m not ordering’ and like, ‘Well, I’m not buying it this week.’ It’s very real life.”
The Summer House favorite took over the grocery role from Amanda who “started buying groceries for the house maybe in season 2.”
“I was doing it for years and I felt unappreciated, so I gave up and then Ciara swooped right in and took over,” the Loverboy creative director revealed.
Production jumps in to help set up parties
As for the weekly-themed parties, the crew has taken them to the next level. But it’s been a group effort.
“We’re sweating. We are hands-on. We are tying, we are taping, we’re running around,” Amanda said.
Sometimes, production jumps in in moments of need. Kyle revealed, “In between the scenes, they’re helping us set up.”
“We put a lot of effort into our parties and they keep getting bigger each year,” Ciara added. Kyle agreed that the cast keeps “setting the bar higher and higher,” and at their own expense.
The expansive guest lists, and the theme-enhancing props take a lot more “out of our own pockets,” Kyle admitted.
But who can expect this highly social group to limit their guest list.
“There are occasions where we’ll be out and about the night before and we’ll meet some people, whether it’s a friendly situation or a fan, and we’re feeling a little generous with the invites,” the Loverboy founder stated.
“Last summer, Kyle met someone’s mom and invited her for the Fourth of July party and she came with a whole tray of cookies,” his wife joked.
