When the highly-anticipated Dance Moms reunion aired, we were all pretty shocked to see that Abby Lee Miller wasn’t a part of it. It’s like having cake with no ice cream. At first glance, it just didn’t make sense.
Of course, there were plenty of theories surrounding her absence. Some thought perhaps it was a choice by Lifetime, who didn’t want to hire the woman who went viral for talking about her attraction to high school football players. Abby theorized that it was because the girls were afraid to “face” her. It turns out, she was kind of right.
No invite for Abby
A source close to the production spilled to Radar Online about why Abby wasn’t involved in the Dance Moms reunion. The reason was pretty simple. No one wanted her there.
“Cast members drew a line in the sand, refusing to share the stage with Abby Lee Miller,” the insider claimed.
The source continued, “The trauma inflicted by Abby still lingers, casting a dark shadow over any potential reconciliation.”
That definitely tracks. During the reunion, some of the cast members admitted that they were “trauma bonded” from their experience with Abby. At one point, Chloé Lukasiak said she should probably go to therapy to cope with the unusual experiences she had filming Dance Moms. Being at the bottom of the pyramid leaves a long-lasting scar.
With that in mind, it seems like a smart choice for Lifetime to keep Abby away from the reunion. Who needs that toxicity anyway? Allowing the dancers to speak freely about what they experienced allowed them to close the door on this chapter for good. That’s probably for the best.
