Jesse Solomon brought a more solemn tone during the recent episode of Summer House. It was critical for him to get the all clear during his visit to the doctor five-years after being declared cancer-free.
In anticipation of all that, and keeping all the emotions from his Summer House castmates, the reality TV newbie broke down. Cast favorite West Wilson comforted Jesse during that vulnerability moment.
Jesse calls West a “multi-faceted friend” after his Summer House meltdown airs during Season 8
The financial advisor spoke to Decider to discuss the recent episode and how much of a “big deal” being cancer-free for five years really is.
Jesse told the publication why he withheld the information from his castmates while filming in the Hamptons.
“We’re partying. We’re having a good time. I don’t want to bring everybody down with this thing that I think is going to hopefully be good in just a few days. So I didn’t want to rain on everyone else’s parade,” he explained.
Jesse described himself as “a very happy guy,” but he broke down after the topic of his remission came up. The news publication asked what “made you feel safe enough to open up?”
“It was by accident,” he replied. “I wasn’t trying to open up. I had bottled up the emotion for long enough that I just – [when] West asked me if I was okay, it just kind of poured out of me. But yeah, I’m a very happy guy. I’m so blessed that I live a good life. And that’s the one thing that kind of just like wears on me. So West is a good friend for doing that – for hugging me and listening to me cry.”
Indeed, it was very touching to see West step up for his friend. And it seems they’ve maintained close ties post-filming. Jesse shared all the things he appreciates about the Missouri native.
“He’s just so funny. He’s very witty and quick and is down to earth. So I think he’s a real genuine friend [and] not only would he go out and have fun with you, but he’ll support you when you’re down. He’s [a] dynamic, multi-faceted friend,” Jesse revealed.
