Former Bachelor Arie Luyendyk Jr. is wishing he hadn’t been quite so hasty with the snip.
During an April 29 Instagram Q&A, a fan asked Arie and his wife Lauren Burnham if they want more children. The couple already share three children: daughter Alessi, 4, and twins Senna and Lux, 2.
“A year ago, I would have said 100% no way,” he responded. “But I’m feeling more and more like I rushed the vasectomy. Don’t know just yet what the future holds, but [right now] I’m loving this stage with them.”
Happy family of five
The couple met in 2017 on Season 22 of The Bachelor. Lauren was one of Arie’s final two women, though he gave his final rose and a proposal to Becca Kufrin. When he later had second thoughts, he and Becca had a messy on-camera breakup. Arie proposed to Lauren during the show’s After the Final Rose episode in March 2018, and they married in 2019.
After three babies in quick succession, the couple chose for Arie to undergo a vasectomy due to Lauren’s sensitivity to hormonal birth control. “It causes mild depression for me,” she explained.
At the time, Lauren told Us Weekly that she “wasn’t necessarily ready” to give up on ever having more children.
“I know it’s hard right now [with three kids under 3],” she said then. “But once we’re out of this space, I might want another one. Who knows?” And her husband added that vasectomies can be reversed “if we have some heartaches in five years’ time.”
In February 2022, the couple talked about Arie’s vasectomy experience. “He was white as a ghost. I thought he was going to faint,” his wife shared.
Meanwhile, Arie called the procedure “awful.” I’ll spare you the details.
