It’s been “Five hundred twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes,” since Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix first announced their sandwich shop plans. After a slew of delays, Something About Her is finally opening in just a few short weeks. Hopefully. However, it’ll be doing so minus one of its original hires, Chef Penny Davidi.
At first, these Vanderpump Rules boss b*tches didn’t reveal much on this matter. Katie only stated that Chef Penny was great, but not a good fit. Originally, they brought her on to help curate their menus, assist with their staffing, and also to help fine-tune their recipes. However, a major dispute arose, and now we know what this involved, and also why it caused these three to officially be dunzos.
It’s about the money
In a newly dropped sneak peek for Season 11 Episode 14, Katie and Ariana visit SAH. They’re not alone here. Their newest hire Ann Maddox is there as well. As an aside, I’m here for this.
However, Lisa Vanderpump arrives next, and her concern for the girls is clear. Bringing up her friend Chef Penny, Lisa notes that she’s well aware of the issues that the women were dealing with since the chef had filled her in. She then added, “You guys aren’t speaking to her.” In response, Ariana states “There’s a lot of missing pieces.”
“She proposed she would like to be paid a salary and then, like, a percentage that she would want. So we sent that to our lawyer,” Katie explained. Jumping back in, Ariana added that as “the two sole owners of this business, this isn’t, like, the three of us as ‘The Three Musketeers.’” Understanding finally dawns on Lisa’s face, as she states “Oh, she’s not going to be a partner.
Agreeing with Lisa’s statement, Ariana rephrased Katie’s words, stressing again that “She receives a salary and then we offered, on the back end, 10% of profits from this location. That’s a great deal.” At this, LVP notes that she remembers Chef Penny originally being on board with this offer, to which Ariana adds “but now she’s saying she’s not.”
An understanding Lisa therefore asks “Do you want to part ways?” In reply, Ariana says “That’s kind of what we’re trying to figure out right now.”
Spoiler alert. Chef Penny’s now out.
