When it comes to unhinged, problematic behavior, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City remains undefeated. Filming is underway for Season 5, and we’re hearing rumblings about a nasty fight that went down between Lisa Barlow and Mary M. Cosby. Allegedly, Mary called Lisa’s 12-year-old son the R-word.
Slurs in Salt Lake City
Page Six got all of the details of the heated argument, which happened earlier this month. An insider said that Lisa and Mary were having a “crazy fight” when Mary dropped the R-word about Lisa’s son Henry, AKA Baby Gorgeous. The situation left the rest of the RHOSLC cast shocked. Even Meredith Marks couldn’t defend Mary on this one.
“The entire cast … was beyond grossed out,” an insider said of Mary’s comment.
Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time that Mary has ventured into borderline cancellable territory. So much has happened on RHOSLC in its first four seasons that it might be hard to remember, but Mary previously made racist remarks about her Asian cast mate, Jennie Nguyen. She also called Jen Shah a “Mexican thug.”
In the past, Mary apologized for her problematic comments. An insider said that this time, it’s no different. Somehow, Mary and Lisa have talked about the issue and are trying to move forward. They’re currently filming in Mexico for a cast trip as if nothing happened.
“They made amends over the situation and are moving on,” the insider claimed.
At this point, it’s not even clear if this will even become a storyline for Season 5. For Henry’s sake, it would be great if this didn’t turn into a full-blown RHOSLC storyline. Dropping slurs doesn’t make for good reality TV, and a 12-year-old probably doesn’t need to be subjected to that level of scrutiny.
