Boston Rob Mariano is a competition beast. And if you’ve been watching him on Deal or No Deal Island, that isn’t a surprise. Now that Season 1 is almost finished, the former Survivor player shared his thoughts on his CBS allies coming to play.
“I think [it’ll be difficult] now that I’ve kind of set the tone,” he told Us Weekly. He continued, saying future players would “be crazy not to get rid of them right away.”
He continued, saying he knew he had a reputation to get in front of. “But what I did was try to show that I was always going to be a target, and there’ll be a time to get me out later in the beginning.”

The Deal or No Deal Island contestants knew Boston Rob was a big threat to their game. Despite that, they kept him around. But only because Boston convinced them it was to their benefit. “I can help to build the pot. I’m good at the challenges; you can use me for now,” he explained. “It’s not like I’m not going to be someone that you guys want to take out whenever.
Boston didn’t leave his fate in his competition’s hands entirely, though. He used his master manipulation skills to get in the heads of many. And if you’ve been watching, it’s actually worked.
“I always wanted to have my fate in my own hands, and once I realized [there are] situations that you can get yourself into in this game where effectively you wouldn’t have your fate in your own hands per se,” he said. “If you’re sitting in the middle and somebody else was playing the banker, they could potentially take you out because you didn’t have immunity. So what I did was I tried to avoid those situations at all costs, and I think anybody else playing this game should be perceptive of their position.”
