Candiace Dillard Bassett Wishes She’d ‘Known About IVF Sooner’

Candiace Dillard Bassett is opening up about her journey with in vitro fertilization (IVF), and the Real Housewives of Potomac star said she wishes she had known about it sooner.

In case you missed the news, Candiace revealed she was pregnant last week. “It’s been weird, but also really wonderful … to keep it kind of to ourselves to this point,” she said in an earlier interview after revealing she was about “13 weeks.” She then spoke about how her baby came to be, adding that she and Chris Bassett froze some of her eggs via IVF two years ago.

In a new interview with Fox 5 in DC, Candiace said she wishes she’d known about the process sooner than later. “It really motivated me to want to talk about it,” she said. “It’s so important to give knowledge. If I had known sooner that I had an option to freeze my eggs, I would’ve done it at 25 [or] 30. I was 35 when I actually went through it, and it took several rounds of IVF egg retrieval to get enough rounds of viable eggs to … freeze.”

If you were hoping to see Candiace and Chris’ journey on the next season of RHOP, I have bad news for you. The Bravo vet announced she would not return for Season 9 of the series after battling it out with co-stars Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon for far too long.

“As I embark on a new chapter after six remarkable years with The Real Housewives of Potomac, I am filled with gratitude for the enriching friendships, personal growth, and moments of introspection that have defined this journey,” she said in an earlier interview.

Now, without the constant fighting, Candy Pants can enjoy her pregnancy stress-free and begin getting ready to welcome her new bundle of joy into the world. The Drive Back singer is also looking forward to connecting with other mothers on her journey.

“I’m looking forward to the community, the mom community,” she said. “It’s a space I’ve kind of been peering into from the outside; most of my friends and my cousins have kids. I’ve helped raise and change diapers and babysit all of my cousins’ kids, so it’s just gonna be fun to be a part of that community and, you know, to learn and grow as a member now.”
