Crystal Kung Minkoff has announced her exit from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills after three seasons. The news comes as a shock to fans, who assumed she would be returning for RHOBH Season 14. Crystal took to Instagram to reveal the news in an honest and open video, giving her thanks to NBCUniversal, Bravo, Andy Cohen, and producer Alex Baskin.
Crystal made Real Housewives of Beverly Hills history across three seasons before her exit
Crystal was the first Asian American cast member on the Beverly Hills franchise, making history between Seasons 11-13. It’s not something she ever thought she would do, “let alone film it for three seasons,” she explained. “Every single year I was asked back … it was a blessing, it was an honor.”
She also touched upon the “weight” on her shoulders of representing Asian Americans, “that I have since really understood the magnitude of what they meant for people.” Crystal then celebrated the beauty of sharing her stories. These included her eating disorder, and her father’s battle with Alzheimer’s.
“At the end of the day … my biggest gift of filming the show has been connecting [with the audience],” Crystal continued. “You guys are an incredible audience with your own unique stories to tell.”
And of course, Crystal promised she has some “other things going on” that she can share more details of soon.
In her debut season, Crystal had drama with Sutton Stracke, who Crystal accused of “violating” her. Thankfully, the two built a bridge and seemingly became great friends. That goodwill didn’t extend to one-and-done RHOBH star Annemarie Wiley, who Crystal branded a “b*tch” in Season 13.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is available to stream on Peacock.
