Todd Chrisley is gearing up for his appeal hearing. And, surprisingly, prisoners around the US are sending him well wishes.
Jay Surgent, the family’s lawyer, told RadarOnline that Todd’s fellow inmates are “wishing him well.” He explained that “they care” for Todd and his family. Additionally, he’s received many “letters” of support before his April 19 hearing.
Why are Todd’s fellow inmates cheering him on?
It’s been over a year since Todd and Julie Chrisley reported to prison to begin their combined 19-year sentence. Todd and Julie were convicted by a federal court of trying to defraud the government out of millions of dollars to fund their extravagant lifestyle.
Since reporting, the couple’s daughter, Savannah Chrisley, has been the “head honcho.” She’s been advocating for her parents in the outside world. Because of her unwavering loyalty to her family, more people are aware of the treatment her parents have faced behind bars.
According to Todd, not only has the eccentric personality allegedly been served food that’s a “year past expiration,” he also claimed there’s been a plot to blackmail him for money. “There are recordings of staff members here talking about, ‘He needs to be humbled,’” he said. “There was a photograph taken of me while I was sleeping and sent to my daughter, asking for $2,600 a month for my protection.”
With their appeal set to happen in the coming days, Savannah, her brothers, Chase and Grayson Chrisley, and her parents remain “very hopeful” their conviction will be overturned. If it is, they could be home in time for the summer. If not, Todd will continue his 12-year sentence while Julie finishes her reduced seven-year term.
We’ll update you on what happens next.
