It’s been an entire year since the Scandoval storyline on Vanderpump Rules first broke our brains. In the days and weeks immediately following this illicit affair, the entire cast said their peace. However, only a select few did so calmly, as Nick Viall’s now addressing. In fact, he’s specifically calling out Lala Kent and Scheana Shay, labeling their past contempt as ‘performative outrage.’
Nick’s dis
The Viall Files podcast host begins by recalling the rage seen during Season 10, which carried over into the reunion. However, Nick applauded his guest Katie Maloney for her showing at the end of this messy season. “You said your peace,” he tells her, almost proudly. Also, Nick noted that Katie then said nothing else, which is called growth, people.
But then, “you had James, you had Lala, you had Scheana, f*cking screaming at Rachel.” On this, Nick’s now labeling these behaviors as “performative outrage.” This is because the ladies said “horrific things” to Rachel, but after going in so hard, they both now seem to be perfectly fine. In fact Lala and Scheana are managing to move forward fairly easily, which “in reality, is really f*cking crazy.”
Agreeing, Katie stressed that screaming and forgiving is how she also used to behave. However, “that doesn’t really work for me anymore…what worked when I was like, 26, does not work for me at 38,” she notes. Sure enough, Katie’s currently sticking to her grown-up guns over on VPR Season 11, not raging, but also not dropping down her walls, like Lala and Scheana.
I mean, listen. Lala and Scheana both have huge new mortgages to pay off, as does James. Also, this series needs new storylines, or else this season could be its last. Therefore, maybe Nick’s right. Maybe these costars were indeed hamming up their rage, or maybe, they’re just the temporarily p*ssed off kind.
The world may never know.
Vanderpump Rules continues Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
