When the power went out onboard a massive cargo ship in Baltimore, its crew sent out an urgent mayday call. In response, police stopped the flow of traffic onto the Francis Scott Key Bridge, mere moments before the vessel collided with a support beam, sending the bridge plunging down into the frigid waters below. This quick-thinking action saved countless lives, though sadly, six still perished. Sometimes, reality television collides with the real world, and since Eddie Lucas currently resides in Baltimore as a tug boat captain, this Below Deck alum’s status post collision caused many fans to worry.
Thankfully, the former Bosun is still with us.
Eddie marks himself as safe
When the news first broke, fans quickly flocked to Eddie’s Instagram page. Here, they began commenting on his latest post. At that time, this post wasn’t about Bravo or the cargo ship incident. Instead, it was about his sweet dog, Bert.
When the responses continued to flood Eddie’s page, he responded by creating a new post. This helped to answer everyone’s questions, just all in one place. Smart thinking, Cap.
Directly underneath an image of the still in-tact bridge, Eddie penned, “Thank you to everyone who reached out with concern for my crews safety. I’m relieved to report that we all were off work and safe during this horrible accident. But my heart breaks for all the families that were affected by the collapse of the Key Bridge.”
Eddie last appeared on BD in Season 9. Shortly after filming wrapped on his last run out to sea, Eddie got the boot, and his grudge against Bravo became known. “There is somebody monetizing off of the show, but it’s definitely not us,” he revealed. In addition, Eddie stressed that despite the popularity of this now massive nautical franchise, the casts within are the “lowest-paid.”
Yikes. It’s pretty clear that we will never see Eddie on our screens again. At least not on Below Deck. Even still, “Eduardo loves the ladies,” and this lady loves that Eddie’s safe.
