Janet and Jason Caperna are two of The Valley’s newest stars. In a cast stacked with over-the-top personalities, the Caperna clan are presenting as the opposite, for now. Seriously, they are so calm and rational. I don’t know about any of you, but Jax Taylor’s antics hurt my brain, so thank you, scene palate cleansers.
As for their mailing address, Janet’s been friends with Jax, Brittany Cartwright, and Kristen Doute for years. Therefore, when everyone packed up and moved to the farmhouse faction of LA, Janet and her agreeable husband Jason followed. I can’t poke at this, because raising children is hard, and community is key. Now, the Caperna’s live in a walkable community and star on Bravo, granting them an additional paycheck moving forward.
Quick, someone send them a luck dragon to help them tread these often murky waters! No? Well, perhaps Janet and Jason already have what it takes, and maybe they’ll survive an entire season of chaos. Let’s dive a bit into their lives now, and see what these two are all about.
Jolly Janet
Happy Birthday, Janet! Here’s your tattoo station! In Episode 1, Brittany threw Janet a County Fair themed birthday party, complete with a tattoo station. It was OTT, and despite the Kristen should/shouldn’t have a baby fight going on in the kitchen, hosted by Jax, the heavily-pregnant Janet still loved her very special day.
I would’ve sat my rotund self down and ate the offered funnel cake on repeat, but Janet took everything in stride. She even rationally tried explaining to Jax that whatever Kristen decided to do, it’s her choice, not his. It was in this moment that I fell for Janet. According to her bio though, Janet is more than just a pregnant truth-teller.
Once an executive assistant, Janet’s currently placing her outside career on hold. Opting for that inside career life, Janet’s main focus now is on her newborn son. Therefore, this season, we will likely see Janet navigating the many highs and lows that come alongside that tricky first year of motherhood. Namastay away from her, drama-makers.
Overall, we’ve got to hand it to Brittany, as her hard-earned funds and creativity combined, granting her bestie a dream party in return. As Zack Wickham exclaimed, “Oh my god, Janet loves hot dogs.” We then saw Janet posing for a picture with a hot dog. Janet, never change.
Judicial Jason
For a living, Jason’s out in the corporate world, working as a lawyer. He also doles out legal advice to Jax on the side, apparently. As Jax said, “If I find myself in hot water with my wife or with the pool guy, the mailman, I call him first. Just because he’s a certain type of lawyer, he’s got the broad of all kinds of lawyering [that’s not a word, Jax].”
The cameras then cut to Jason’s wife, Janet, who explained, “Jason works in workers’ comp defense on the corporate side.” In the background, a producer asked “Do you think Jax understands what any of those words mean?” In response, Janet smiled and says “I don’t think Jax knows any of those vocabulary words, even separated, let alone put together.”
When he’s not on the clock, Jason is “very passive,” as Janet explained in the first episode. He’s also a great husband. He allowed Janet to strap melons onto his chest areas, simply so that he could fully understand what his wife’s pregnant body felt like. Overall, Jason is an excellent, reliable, supportive husband and cast member, who will hopefully not be ruined by this series.
When two became one
On June 12, 2022, Janet and Jason tied the knot. It was a simple, yet meaningful day, as Janet wrote “We’re legally married! Today, on my grandparents 73rd wedding anniversary, Jason and I had a small ceremony on my Aunt & Uncle’s front porch. Papers are signed, ceremony in Tahiti is up next!”
Hopefully, these two will continue to thrive moving forward. Not like some of the other couples on the show…
And finally, it’s the Caperna three
On Dec. 8, 2023, Janet and Jason welcomed their first child into this messy world. “And then there were three,” Janet sweetly wrote, sharing a precious image of herself, Jason, and their newborn son. Even though Janet is still in her hospital bed, hooked up to an IV, it’s clear that she is beyond content in this moment. Truly, the adoration on both of their faces is clear.
What’s not clear yet though is their son’s name. Perhaps this will be made known at some point over on The Valley.
