Vanderpump Rules stars Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney have been working on their sandwich spot, Something About Her, for almost two years. At first, it seemed like it would be open fairly quickly. But, opening dates have passed with no delicious sandwiches to show for it.
The West Hollywood location, conveniently located near SUR and TomTom, is costing the ladies a big chunk of change. A source claimed that the duo has “spent nearly $1 million on the shop.” Yikes!
The spot has great decor and a definite vibe. Interior designer Jon Hutman created their version of a Parisian cafe. “This whole Something About Her [concept], and the vision behind that, was wanting it to be romanticized lunch, à la rom-coms,” Katie said. I love the décor, but let’s be clear. I’m there for a sandwich.
The opening is delayed, but getting closer
The U.S. Sun reported that Katie and Ariana applied for a liquor license in October 2023. In February 2024, the license was finally issued. The business partners plan on selling wine, beer, and some cocktails that are wine-based. Along with their sandwiches, the eatery will offer teas, and tempting treats such as cookies, muffins, and croissants. The shop won’t offer coffee because there is a coffee shop next door. I love that the ladies are supporting another small business by not competing with them.
As of January 3, 2024, an application was submitted for a new outdoor dining area in front of the restaurant. This space would be 20 square feet in size. The application also noted that a new sign and awning would be added for Something About Her. The duo had to remove the patio that was there, along with their cheery yellow awning and sign.
This application is being reviewed, and so far, no construction is underway for the new patio. With just one permit standing between the duo and opening the shop, maybe we will see sandwiches there in 2024. Fingers crossed.
