Take a deep breath and brace yourselves because Bravo just dropped the trailer for the The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 8 reunion.
Season 8 has felt disjointed because most of the women refuse to engage with each other. They clearly aren’t friends. They aren’t acquaintances either. Karen Huger has desperately tried to bring the ladies together. All attempts have failed. Even Charrisse Jackson Jordan tried to get the ladies to bond at a crab boil. That didn’t work either.
The Season 8 reunion feels like the last chance for this group to come together. Something has to give, or Bravo needs to start firing people. In the trailer, we get a glimpse of whether or not any progress was made.
Finding a path forward
The trailer started with Andy Cohen setting a very clear goal for the women. He told them, “I want to set an intention for us today that each of you can find a path toward moving forward.”
Of course, that’s easier said than done, and the trailer didn’t show any positive conversations between the women. In one moment, Candiace Dillard Bassett doubled down on the things she said about Gizelle Bryant. In another moment, she branded Robyn Dixon a “loser.” That doesn’t sound like someone who is looking to find a path forward.
Another major storyline that needs resolution is the beef between Dr. Wendy Osefo and Nneka Ihim. The new cast member claimed that Wendy’s mom submitted her name to a prayer shrine before filming started for Season 8. It’s alleged that Wendy didn’t want another Nigerian woman coming onto the show. The two ladies clashed in the trailer, and there was a glimpse of Wendy addressing Nneka in their native language. We’re all getting cultured at this reunion.
We’re also about to get a lot more information bout what’s going on with Mia Thornton’s marriage. Gordon Thornton was at the reunion, and the cameras even captured him jumping into a Facetime call with Mia and her new boyfriend. On stage, she and Andy addressed a rumor that Gordon might not be the biological father of one of their children.
Season 8 might have been a little bit of a dud, but it looks like the Potomac ladies could redeem themselves with this reunion. If anything, we can at least appreciate their looks. The prompt was all-black and the ladies delivered. Whether or not they’ll deliver on Andy’s directive to find a path forward, we shall see.
Season 8 of The Real Housewives of Potomac continues Sunday night at 8/7c on Bravo. The reunion starts on March 31.
