Kyle Richards and Dorit Kemsley were once the best of friends. In fact, many Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fans were rather annoyed with how close the two were.
After all, Kyle seemed to encourage bullying behavior in Dorit. In the same vein, Dorit often seemed to exacerbate some of Kyle’s worst traits. So, what happened? Well, things took a turn ahead of the Season 13 reunion. Kyle sent Dorit a text just before filming. Dorit found it manipulative, getting the sense that Kyle was trying to “silence” her.
Excerpts from the text included: “I don’t want to lose someone else in my life over a TV show,” and “They don’t even know we are going through a hard time, so I don’t see the need to bring it up there.” Yeah, not a great look for the soon-to-be Miss Richards. So, where do they stand now?
Kyle defends her text, says she was “forthright”
During an Amazon Live on March 19, Kyle confirmed, “We haven’t spoken at all. But I have always supported Dorit since she joined the show.” She reiterated her displeasure with Dorit’s choice to share her text message with others. She also denied that it was an attempt to manipulate Dorit.
“I really felt very hurt by, you know, what happened at the reunion,” Kyle said. “I felt hurt by things that were said in the season. And then at the reunion, the text being read was very hurtful to me. She said that I was being manipulative.”
Kyle continued, “And it was actually the [complete] opposite. I was actually being very forthright. And saying, ‘I have a lot at stake for me right now. This is really hard for me. And I have a lot on my plate. I know what’s coming at me. You and I – these are stupid arguments. We don’t need to do that too.’”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 13 is available to stream on Peacock.
