Vanderpump Rules viewers tracked Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright from their first meet in Vegas in 2015, all the way up through their Kentucky Castle wedding in 2019.
Though they were fired from Pump Rules in 2020, Jax and Britt are back with their new show The Valley. And this time they have a toddler in tow, their 2 1/2-year-old son Cruz Cauchi (Cauchi is Jax’s legal surname).
But while his parents are used to the reality TV environment, little Cruz some needed time to adjust to having all those strangers around, according to Brittany.
The first day was rough
“I think, like, the first day … he was a little overwhelmed,” Brittany told the Daily Dish at The Valley premiere party. “There was like 10 people in our house with cameras and sound [equipment].”
But after some initial hesitation, Cruz, who turns three in April, learned to ignore all the commotion and settled right into filming. Though Brittany admitted that her normally cheerful son shed a few tears that first day, he quickly adjusted to being on camera.
“After that, he just like went right into it, like the rest of us,” Britt said. “We forget that they are even there and, you know, it was fun.”
“He’s the sweetest thing,” she added about her son. Jax agreed that their little guy handled the new situation like a trooper and didn’t have any difficulty with filming.
According to the Jax’s Studio City owner, the youngest member of the family “loved the camera guys” and the crew.
“He was always behind the camera, watching the scenes when they do the playbacks and all that,” Jax explained. “He was sitting with the crew, [and] he loved it. Craft services was probably his favorite thing.” I’m sure. What growing little boy doesn’t love snacks?
Whether or not Cruz makes reality TV his career, Jax is “super excited” to see his son’s television debut. “I mean, whether he likes it or not, he’s on it,” Jax joked. “I don’t know, [if] it’s something [he’ll] want to pursue one day. He can do whatever he wants, but at least this is something he can look back on and be like, ‘Oh, my God! There’s my douchebag dad.’”
