The controversies surrounding Kate Middleton have become so present that even Andy Cohen didn’t mind throwing in his two cents on the matter. For those who aren’t caught up on the whole thing, there’s a lot to recap.
Kensington Palace told the public that Kate would be stepping out of the spotlight for a bit to recover from abdominal surgery. Initially, it was all thoughts and prayers, but people began growing skeptical after a while. The situation wasn’t helped when a photo of Kate with her kids was shared with the press.
It didn’t take long for the public to notice how heavily edited the photo was. It got to the point that even Associated Press doubted its veracity, and took the photo down with a “kill” warning. If the situation weren’t disastrous enough for the Royal Family, the edit opened the floodgates. Now, Andy’s in on it too.
Video of Kate at market has Andy doubting
On March 18, The U.S. Sun released a video of (an alleged) Kate walking with Will after finishing an impromptu shoppign trip. The video did absolutely nothing to dissuade online conspiracy theorists, including Andy, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on the same day to write, “That ain’t Kate…”
Andy’s tweet aligned with a recent Watch What Happens Live episode, wherein Andy asked John Oliver, “Where the f*ck is Kate Middleton?” John couldn’t help but speculate. The tweet understandably sparked a lot of discussion.
Many X users saw Andy’s remark as an opportunity to throw in their own conspiratorial thoughts. As one reply asked, “[W]here is their security? You’re telling me the prince and princess go shopping at a market, carry their own groceries and have zero security with them?” Another asked, “If Kate just had abdominal surgery then why is she carrying a bag of produce?”
Still, Kate had her defenders, with one user slamming Andy for “spreading hate and misinformation against Catherine.” But amid all the defenses and conspiracy-slinging, one reply joked, “If it was actually a facelift, I want the number for her doctor bc girl lost 15 years.”
