Back before the January taping of the Season 13 The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion, Kyle Richards asserted that she was prepared to answer any question she was asked. So, it seemed promising that we’d get more insight into the unraveling of her and Mauricio Umansky’s 28-year marriage.
One thing fans wanted to know was what straw broke the camel’s back and resulted in her and Mo’s July 2023 separation. However, she basically gave a disappointing non-answer, and we’re no closer to knowing the full reason for their split. She also made it clear that she probably won’t ever reveal it.
Kyle on her split from Mauricio: “Nobody’s f*cking business”
During Part 3 of the reunion that aired last night, host Andy Cohen asked Kyle a fan-submitted question about why she hasn’t been forthcoming about the reasons behind her and Mauricio’s split.
Despite being a main player for 13 seasons on a show that’s sole purpose is for viewers to be all up in her business, Kyle bluntly sniped, “It’s nobody’s f*cking business.”
However, she did touch upon previous things she said during the Season 13 finale, where she hinted at the cause of their separation.
Circling back to one part of the finale where she mentioned losing trust in Mo due to certain events, she reiterated, “With any marriage there’s issues that you have, and they come up, and then something like I said in my interview happened where I did lose my trust.” Many took this and filled in the blanks that Mauricio might’ve been unfaithful. Rumors about it have been floating around for years now.
Kyle further explained, “I care about my family first, and I really did try, and then when I couldn’t, the kind of things that I was, I don’t want to say putting up with, just became more apparent to me, I guess I couldn’t do that anymore and I finally just had a breaking point.”
Protecting her family could’ve been a potentially acceptable answer as to why she won’t throw Mo under the bus. Could’ve. But, she did allow the show to exploit her and Mauricio breaking the separation news to their tearful and distraught daughters. So, do we really buy that excuse?
