The Real Housewives of Miami Season 6 has been one for the record books. Personally, Guerdy Abraira’s cancer journey really touched me, as I assume it touched many of us who have survived or known a survivor of cancer. The Miami season was still packed with the drama you’d expect. Larsa Pippen really stepped up as the villain, especially after she blurted out Guerdy’s health news to waiters and friends. Naturally, the party planner was a bit miffed, which made for an interesting finale. One that included an iconic wig toss from none other than Guerdy herself.
The rest of the season showed a trip to Mexico to the Valley of the Dead Dolls, Adriana de Moura performing a new song, and Lisa Hochstein crying every episode about how hard her divorce was going. I always like a new installment of The Real Housewives of Miami, but the real heat this season comes from Larsa and Guerdy’s frenemy-style relationship. It pretty much crashed and burned once finale rolled around.
No Love Lost
Guerdy had one hell of a season finale as she shared that she shaved her head ahead of her chemo treatments. Guerdy sent fans on an emotional rollercoaster as she asked her husband to help her with the haircut. So it made sense after such a stressful morning for her to be a bit annoyed at Larsa for making out a playful bite in Mexico was more than it was while on a podcast.
This entire season has shown Guerdy and Larsa taking two steps forward and one giant leap back when it comes to their rocky friendship. Personally, I wouldn’t have wasted my time on Larsa if I were Guerdy because she should have saved her energy for more important fights.
Bye Wig
Just when I thought things were cooling off between Larsa and Guerdy, another fight kicked off, with the mother of two really going in for the kill. In Larsa’s opinion, Guerdy was always looking for a reason to be mad, but in defense of Gurd, she was going through a lot – she deserved to be mad!
Guerdy lost control of her emotions, telling Larsa, “You’re not sorry. You should be sorry, but you’re not sorry.” To be honest, no one enjoyed watching Larsa’s behavior this season. And enough was enough. In a moment of passion, Guerdy yanked the wig off her head in hopes of finally silencing loose lips Larsa.
Then, Larsa tried to convince everyone she was a victim too. My eyes almost got stuck in the back of my head due to the resulting eyeroll. Guerdy reminded the entire group she was heading to the hospital for blood tests the next day as she told Larsa how a true friend would care about her. Then, in one fell swoop, she ripped her hat and wig off her head to reveal her new look. Larsa didn’t bat an eye at Guerdy’s bald head, which said more than her words.
Aviva’s Leg Toss
I was immediately brought back to an early season of The Real Housewives of New York City when Aviva Drescher did the unthinkable. After the Big Apple ladies started to agree that Aviva was toxic, the blonde decided to take matters into her own hands.
Aviva actually turned out to be a bit of a kook who couldn’t do anything without her husband by her side. At one point, she also called Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan white trash, which was pretty hilarious. But Aviva entered Season 6 like a house on fire as she fought with Carole Radziwill about having a ghostwriter.
Lest we forget, Carole is a world-renowned journalist – she didn’t have anyone else write her book. Upon arriving late to the season finale party, Aviva plays the martyr role perfectly, noting, “I’ve been sick, and they’re avoiding me like the plague. It’s asthma, ladies, it’s not contagious. And by the way, I’m feeling better. Thanks for asking.”
Let’s be honest: no one cared about her bronchia airway, and when she was tired of defending herself, she secretly unhooked her prosthetic and slammed her leg on the table, saying, “The only thing that’s artificial or fake about me is this!”
