The Real Housewives franchise debuted in 2006, and if you’ve been watching, then you’ll know that it’s nothing short of a drama-filled mess. Sometimes though, the theatrics have gone too far, causing several cast members to quit. Other times, certain stars have contemplated leaving, but then stayed on, despite their better judgements. Looking back, these are the Real Housewives who have nearly quit, only to then return to Bravo for another go.
The Entire RHOBH Season 5 Cast
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 5 featured a dinner party from hell. Here, Kim Richards, Kyle Richards, Lisa Vanderpump, Brandi Glanville, Yolanda Foster, Eileen Davidson and Lisa Rinna traveled to Amsterdam, where chaos consumed the RHOBH cast. Basically, Rinna came after Kim, who retaliated by bringing up unspoken tea on Lisa’s husband, Harry Hamlin. A wine glass was smashed, and an altercation between the pair felt possible.
This dinner was so dark that Kyle claimed the entire RHOBH cast almost quit post Amsterdam. Speaking to Bustle, Kyle shared, “I think everybody quit that night. The producers were freaking out — we were like, ‘we’re all done now.’” Spoiler alert, the cast stayed, but had they not, this would have been a high number of nearly quit Real Housewives.
Lisa Vanderpump RHOBH Season 6
Not only did Lisa almost quit in Season 5, but following Season 6, she found herself again ready to walk. Here, Lisa was accused of manipulating her costars into discussions that they didn’t want to be a part of, aka Yolanda’s alleged Munchausen Syndrome. Lisa denied these claims, but her time spent in the hot seat made her contemplate quitting.
“I was reticent because I felt the last season was just so aggressive towards me… but it just went down a road I just thought, ‘I don’t think I can do this anymore,’” Lisa revealed to Access Hollywood Live, which People later shared. Ultimately, Lisa returned to filming for Season 7. Even though Lisa nearly quit Real Housewives, again, she remained on-air until Season 9.
Ramona Singer RHONY Season 2
Ramona Singer formerly starred on Real Housewives of New York. During the Season 2 reunion, Luann de Lesseps went after Ramona‘s “crazy eyes.” Yet, Luann wasn’t the only RHONY star to hit at Ramona, as she also faced criticism from Bethenny Frankel and Jill Zarin. All of this saw Ramona questioning her future on-air.
“I remember once after a reunion, I said to myself, ‘I can’t do this anymore,’ and someone said, ‘listen, it’s just like a baby. You’ll forget the pain,'” Ramona shared with Bustle. Even though this Real Housewife nearly quit, she sadly remained until Season 13, when a RHONY reboot with a new cast was announced.
Carole Radziwill RHONY Season 6
Carole Radziwill had a hard time filming RHONY Season 6. Aviva Drescher came to Carole for advice on a book, as Carole was an author. Here, Carole made an assumption that Aviva would use a ghostwriter, which saw the annoying #bookgate storyline being born.
After spending all of Season 6 fighting with Aviva, Carole wanted to quit. However, when it was announced that Aviva was not returning, Carole took it all back. Speaking to E! News, Carole explained another reason that she returned for Season 7, saying, “I didn’t want to end on this very dark note.” This Real Housewife nearly quit, but instead remained until Season 10.
Vicki Gunvalson RHOC Season 10
Vicki Gunvalson struggled during Real Housewives of Orange County Season 10, due to her then-boyfriends false cancergate storyline. Her entire cast called out the lies that Brooks Ayers told, while accusing Vicki of being in on his scam. Therefore, post RHOC Season 10, Vicki wanted out. Speaking to E! News, Vicki shared why she ultimately decided to return.
“I didn’t think I had the strength, but you know what, my story wasn’t finished. I’m not gonna end as a victim,” Vicki stated. Vicki’s now just another Real Housewife that’s nearly quit, only to then take it all back.
Dorinda Medley RHUGT Season 2
Dorinda Medley hosted the cast of Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip Season 2 at her home in the Berkshires. However, the stresses of hosting and filming saw her wanting to wrap things up. Speaking to Los Angeles Magazine, Dorinda explained, “I cried to one of the producers and told him I really don’t want to do it anymore. He told me to take a nap and come back, and I was like, ‘OK, woo. I got it.”
Dorinda’s refreshed mindset saw her going from nearly quitting, to finishing things out well with the cast of RHUGT.
Crystal Kung Minkoff RHOBH Season 11
Crystal Kung Minkoff nearly quit her first season of RHOBH. In Season 11, Crystal and Sutton Stracke fought, after Sutton walked into Crystal’s room, causing Crystal to feel “violated.” Worried that she hadn’t gotten off to a good start, Crystal shared with the Behind the Velvet Rope podcast that she almost quit. However, Crystal stated that she was very committed, so she stuck it out, making her yet another Real Housewife to have nearly quit their series.
Sutton Stracke RHOBH Season 11
Sutton battled Erika Jayne all throughout RHOBH Season 11. In yet another dinner party from hell, things got so tense between the two that Erika threatened Sutton, who then contemplated quitting. Speaking to Us Weekly, Sutton shared “I did think of quitting and not because of the show, it was just because of the threat, and I didn’t like it at all.” Never fear though, as this nearly quitting Real Housewife recanted, due to production and her friends on the cast lending their support.
Garcelle Beauvais RHOBH Season 11
Garcelle Beauvais almost quit after RHOBH Season 11, as she felt like she wasn’t accepted by the cast. However, when speaking to ET, Garcelle revealed that Sutton had “twisted her arm,” convincing her not to quit. Garcelle therefore returned, making her our final nearly quit Real Housewives star…for now.
