Paris Hilton isn’t here for Mauricio Umansky using the Hilton name for clout.
“My father is a consummate gentleman and has always taken the higher road. He would never speak negatively about his family — especially in the press,” Paris wrote on Instagram in response to a clip from Mo’s Netflix series, Buying Beverly Hills. “Frankly, we are all sick of him using the Hilton name every chance he gets to plug his lame show. It is enough already.”
OMG? To be honest, I definitely saw this coming after that clip was posted online. Although I believed it would be Kathy Hilton speaking up, I loved that it was Paris. Bring on the mess.
What happened between Mauricio and the Hiltons back in the day?
In case you weren’t keeping up, Mauricio and his daughters are featured in a Netflix reality series. It’s another real-estate-type show centered around Mo’s business, The Agency. We’ve also heard about his company plenty on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Well, in a teaser for Season 2, Mauricio spoke about what led to his beef with his bro-in-law, Rick Hilton.
“I think I got kind of f*cked by Hilton and Hyland,” he said on camera. “And when I say f*cked, you know, like today, I’m happy. But, there were 100 agents at Hilton and Hyland. They did $1 billion for the first time a year. I was 19.6 percent of their production.”
Jesus, take the wheel because here we go.
Mauricio explained that when he asked Rick to become a full partner after his successful year, Rick told him no. Mo then said he had a conversation with Kyle Richards, which led him to create The Agency.
“Then I went home, and I talked to Kyle. I go, ‘This is really going to cause a lot of stress between you and your sister and your family. And I don’t want to do this move of leaving and starting a company if you’re not comfortable,’” he said. “She was 100 percent supportive.”
Mauricio finished, saying, “I think Hilton and Hyland is an amazing company, and I would never be caught dead speaking poorly about them because I don’t think poorly about them … But unfortunately, it got sour because it really affected the family, Kyle more than anybody. You know, her family stopped speaking to her.”
