The Chrisley family is once again commenting on life in prison, this time, via an old letter from Julie Chrisley herself. Julie and her husband, Todd Chrisley, went to jail in 2023 for fraud and tax evasion charges in 2022.
Since then, the Chrisley Knows Best stars have been commenting on the quality of life behind bars, along with their daughter, Savannah Chrisley. As one might’ve expected, the Chrisleys haven’t had a bang-up time in the slammer.
On the February 27 episode of her podcast, Unlocked, Savannah shared some letters that Julie had sent from prison. One letter from February 2, 2023, was particularly frightening for Julie as a breast cancer survivor.
Savannah is irate over Julie’s tumor scare
“I walked in thinking it was Gynecology,” Julie wrote. “I sat down with the doctor and she proceeds to tell me that my HCG level was high – 10.2. This is a pregnancy hormone. It should not be that high. If it were a little higher, I would test positive on a pregnancy test. Since that’s not a possibility, it could be a sign of a tumor.”
“I literally fell apart,” the letter continued. “How can this be happening? I’m going to have blood work redone and get a scan. I’ve not told anyone and I’m not going to until I know what’s going on. I’m so scared. I just want my husband. I don’t know if I can do this without him.”
After reading the letter, Savannah said, “This right here is a perfect example of the lack of health care that you receive in the system and how they’re not the most educated doctors that work for the BOP.
“They tell your family absolutely nothing,” she continued, adding that she “wasn’t notified of any of this.” Savannah further slammed the system by saying, “They don’t care. If my mom were to go to the hospital I would not know. And to think of her sitting there worrying about, ‘Oh, my God. My cancer may be back…’”
It seems that the Chrisley family, and Savannah in particular, is fed up of the prison system. While the old saying, “Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time” may initially seem appropriate, we should all have some level of basic human rights. Whether we’re behind bars, or not.
