Did Rachel Leviss have it worse than Tom Sandoval in the fallout of their cheating scandal? Lala Kent seems to think so. Vanderpump Rules fans were shaken to their core when it came out that Tom cheated on Ariana Madix with Rachel.
In response to the news, Tom and Rachel received a firestorm of hate that persists to this day. While we don’t know for sure, it’s not hard to suppose Rachel chose to leave the show, in part, due to the backlash. Meanwhile, Tom seems to be in the middle of his redemption arc in Season 11.
Of course, Rachel is doing all right in other ways, finding some level of success with her podcast. But despite moving on presently, she did have to check into a mental health clinic in the heat of the scandal. So, who had it worse?
Lala shows some sympathy for “Raquel”
On the February 28 episode of her podcast, Lala compared the backlash that Tom and Rachel received. “Women always take the brunt of this sh*t,” she said. “Like, Sandoval? Yes, he’s been taking a beating, but nowhere near Raquel.” Note that Lala is still calling her “Raquel.”
Lala referenced some of the abuse Rachel had endured, for example, the time when Ariana told Rachel, “f*ck yourself with a cheese grater.” Just as well, Lala cited the time she called her “a f*cking dumbass,” and the various instances Rachel had been called “a whore.”
Lala continued, “Like, it’s intense for a chick.” Her co-host pointed out that even when men were labeled cheaters, it’s often followed with “Guys will be guys.” Lala agreed, saying, people would write off male cheating as “No big deal.”
Women, on the other hand, would be labeled as “whores” with a warning to “stay away from her.” They further discussed how men are given a pass because they “think with their penises,” to which Lala said, “Well, then I think with my vagina.”
Vanderpump Rules Season 11 continues Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
