Season 8 of The Real Housewives of Potomac is already 14 episodes deep, but has anything really happened yet? We did get one of the longest, most unimpressive cast trips ever. Was the Austin chicken shit bingo a fever dream? At any rate, today (February 28, 2024) is reunion taping day.
However, the logistics of filming it might be more eventful than the season has been. Vice President Kamala Harris will be in the same building at the same time as the RHOP reunion taping. The security measures involved in the VP’s presence presents complications that Andy Cohen, production, and the cast will have to work around.
Bravo bumped up the RHOP reunion call time to accommodate VP Harris
A source told Page Six that VP Harris will appear today on Sherri Shepherd’s daytime talk show, Sherri. This caused a scheduling shake-up for the RHOP reunion, which is also scheduled for today. Both the reunion and Sherri are filmed at Manhattan’s Chelsea Studios on W. 26th St.
Because of this, the production time for the reunion got moved up to the wee hours of the morning. This allows all of the ladies to make it into the building before the Secret Service sweep starts.
“Their schedule now has to be rearranged and pushed up to 4:30 in the morning. All of their food deliveries have to come before the street is totally blocked off by the Secret Service,” said the source.
The studios will face a lot of security measures including street closures and barricades. Residents and workers in the area will also need to pass through metal detectors.
“The whole block will be shut down, so there will be a lot of organized chaos because of Harris’ arrival, which could mean their breakfast and lunch could be cold,” remarked an insider.
RHOPers will have to remain on set and under the watch of the Secret Service until the VP leaves. Meticulous planning of several moving parts happens for a reunion taping, so some scrambling ensued.
“A lot of time and scheduling goes into those reunion shows. So the set decorations, time cards, flights, guest arrivals have all been turned upside down. Those ladies are not known for their punctuality. So if they want to avoid any issues they better be in that studio before [the] Secret Service pulls up,” the source explained.
Street closures were set to begin at 8 a.m. Sherri’s show kicks off at 1:30 p.m., and the VP will likely leave soon after the episode wraps at 2:30 p.m.
Andy took to his Instagram Stories with a video to confirm the news, captured below.
One thing’s certain: Robyn Dixon will remain completely unfazed, as per usual. But, maybe the vice presidential pandemonium will add a little oomph to an otherwise dull season.
The Real Housewives of Potomac continues Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo.
