The reality TV star-to-actor pipeline is not uncommon, and Bethenny Frankel has become its latest occupant. With oftentimes years of experience in front of cameras, reality stars can make for surprisingly good actors, even if just in terms of on-set cooperation.
On the other hand, being in front of cameras for a reality show is all too different from filming a movie. For some stars, the transition is natural. For others, not so much. To that point, Bethenny has proven herself capable of many things.
So, will the former Real Housewives of New York star make a splash in a different facet of showbiz? Well, there’s only one way to find out. But Lifetime seems more than confident in her abilities.
Bethenny feels unworthy of her movie
Per Variety, “Danger in the Dorm tells the story of a quiet college campus that is terrorized by a killer after an honor student is murdered.” The film is set to debut this summer. The film is inspired by a story by author Ann Rule, a frequent contributor to Lifetime.
As for Bethenny’s thoughts on her new venture, she reflected, “In my 20s I briefly attempted acting and was shocked to be asked to immerse myself in such a significant role. My greatest takeaway is to recognize the thankless hard work that the cast and crew input every day. It exceeded my wildest imagination and I watch [TV] and movies differently now.”
She continued, “Cold outdoor scenes and 13-hour days are the norm. It was an incredible experience that I’m grateful to have been afforded. This embarks another possible new chapter in my 50s. As if being an accidental influencer wasn’t enough.” She shared how she felt she wasn’t “worthy” of such opportunities.
Additionally, the film’s director, Robin Hays, said, “It’s an absolute thrill to collaborate with Bethenny. Her dedication and talent breathe life into every scene. Watching her bring depth and authenticity to the character is a reminder of why I fell in love with storytelling in the first place. I can’t wait for people to see this film!”
