It’s official, ABC has confirmed the not-so-long-awaited spinoff of The Golden Bachelor, the aptly named The Golden Bachelorette. After Gerry Turner captured the hearts of millions, now, a female sexagenarian (or older!) will have her chance at finding love.
Of course, given the success of The Golden Bachelor, a sister series was always more than likely. The newest entry in The Bachelor’s wide catalog made waves as soon as they revealed the lead.
Initially, there were some doubts. It seemed a version of The Bachelor with older adults wouldn’t deliver the high drama the series was known for. But that unique tone was perhaps what made it so popular in the first place. So, where does the franchise go from here?
What we know about The Golden Bachelorette
Unfortunately, despite the excitement of the announcement, ABC gave few details for fans and news outlets to work with. Here’s what we know. Per PEOPLE, ABC made the announcement during their Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour. As for how far along the show was, all the network could say for sure was that the spinoff was in the works.
No official air date was announced. However, as of now, fans can look forward to this fall season for a premiere. Until then, ABC assured the press that more details would follow, including the cast. Until then, those looking forward to Bachelor Nation’s newest entry can only speculate.
Even before The Golden Bachelorette was officially announced, fans had already begun speculating about who could be the spin-off’s potential lead. The obvious answer was Leslie Fhima as Gerry’s runner-up. However, another rumor sprang up from an alleged ABC insider, suggesting that soap opera stalwart Susan Lucci was the perfect candidate.
Until we find out, The Golden Bachelorette is slated for fall 2024.
