Rachel Leviss Says Tom Sandoval Relationship Wasn’t Love: ‘Frog in Boiling Water’

Vanderpump Rules alum Rachel Leviss is finished being manipulated by Tom Sandoval. And she isn’t holding back any of her feelings. Rachel checked into a facility to work on her mental health after Scandoval erupted. Sandoval called Rachel “selfish” while she was trying to take care of herself. Poor Sandy was left to deal with the consequences of his actions.

And let us never forget how Sandoval allegedly filmed Rachel without her consent. Isn’t he a prince among men? That video would be the video Sandoval’s girlfriend, Ariana Madix, discovered on his phone. And she promptly dumped that worm.

And after Sandoval commented on Rachel’s Instagram account, she blocked him. When Rachel decided she wanted him, and the rest of the Pump Rules crew out of her life, she meant it. Good for Rachel for keeping those boundaries up.

Rachel delves into the concept of “love bombing”

Rachel recently discussed the concept of “love bombing” on her podcast, Rachel Goes Rogue. Her guest was Married at First Sight’s expert, Pastor Calvin Roberson. Rachel was triggered by Sandoval saying in the most recent episode of VPR that he was still in love with her.

“It’s interesting that you say that its origin [of love bombing] came from cults and religious institutions because people joining churches or cults are trying to find a place of belonging, of acceptance. Gradually, over time, it becomes a control tactic,” Rachel explained. “It’s almost like that phrase ‘a frog in boiling water’ where it won’t jump out of boiling water even though it’s going to kill them, because it’s so gradual.”

Well, that’s one way to describe Sandoval’s gaslighting skills. Rachel admitted that she had been down this road before.

“I feel like it’s a similar manipulation tactic. At first, you just think this person is so in love with you, they adore you and they’re giving you all this attention,” Rachel said. But later the romance becomes about “control.”

She stated, “I fell in love with one narcissistic asshole, and after that relationship ended after five years of being in that relationship, I fell into the hands of another narcissistic asshole. I feel like I maybe missed out on some precious time learning these lessons the hard way,” Rachel said.

“I know for me personally, I stayed in unhealthy relationships for far too long,” she added. I’m guessing that she is referencing James Kennedy and Sandoval.

At least Rachel has learned her lesson and is keeping her distance from James and Sandoval. Or, should we call them Rachel’s “ex-narcissistic assholes?”

Season 11 of Vanderpump Rules continues Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
