Trigger warning: This article discusses alleged instances of abuse.
It is no secret that Vanderpump Rules star James Kennedy has a temper. And that his temper flares when he has too much to drink. While filming Season 11 of Pump Rules, James is living a California sober lifestyle. But accusations from the past have entered his relationship with his girlfriend, Ally Lewber. Meanwhile, the DJ bought a house and settled into domestic bliss with Ally and her cat, Mr. Banks.
In 2021, James was engaged to Rachel Leviss. Once she started speaking out after Scandoval, she made several comments about James. Rachel alleged that James’ ex-girlfriend, Kristen Doute, was given a spot on The Valley to silence her allegations of physical abuse. And Rachel recently hinted that there is more to the story of why she ended her engagement to James.
Ally left upset by the allegations
Ally was recently a guest on Scheana Shay’s podcast, Scheananigans with Scheana Shay. Scheana brought up the rumors about James by mentioning remarks made by Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge during her Two Ts in a Pod podcast in December 2023. Teddi and Tamra discussed an alleged incident when they shared a car with Ally and James.
“I think it was two years ago now [after the MTV Movie & TV Awards]. And she said that they were heading to an afterparty at TomTom,” Scheana said. “And during that car ride, there was an altercation between two people in the car, which made her and Teddi have to get out of the car. They had to separate the two individuals in the car.”
She added, “And [they] further suggested that James was involved, and now there’s rumors flying around that Teddi might have hinted at an altercation between you and James.”
Ally went to bat for James. “That’s crazy to me that that’s the most asked question [for me]. That makes me really sad, because no, I’m good. That never happened,” Ally explained. “There was no physical altercation. Yes, we were in the car together. I thought we were having fun. We were having fun.”
She continued, “But then James and I did get into an argument, but there was no physical assault. I was not bleeding, and they didn’t have to get out of the car and separate us. So that didn’t happen. That’s all I’ll say on that.”
Ally defended her man
Ally doubled down and stated that James never “physically hurt” her and never “assaulted” her. “We’re good. We’re happy. He’s working on himself. I know in the past that he has anger issues,” Ally said. “So I get it. But I just want people to know that I’m good and I’m safe and I love him.”
Scheana asked if James was drinking at the time of the incident in the car. “He was still drinking. Yeah, we were all drunk in the back of that car,” Ally said. “We would fight when we would drink. That’s not who we really are. That’s an example of why he shouldn’t drink.”
