The Vanderpump Rules Season 11 drama is heating up between Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval … and Tom’s former assistant, Ann Maddox. Ann was a good way to prove that VPR viewers were still full of empathy.
To be the assistant of any reality TV star sounds like a hassle, to say the least. But Tom Sandoval in particular? After the events of Scandoval? That would require an iron will. But viewers have seen Ann taking the job in stride, amazingly keeping a good attitude. Still, it’s not all sunshine and roses.
In Season 11, Episode 2, Tom had Ann inform Ariana of his plans to host a party. Ariana said if Tom held a party at the house, she would call the police. Viewers didn’t love Ariana’s tone when speaking to Ann. Many found her response quite rude. Now, Ann has addressed the viewers’ response.
Ann puts herself in Ariana’s shoes over Tom’s party
As for Ann’s opinion on the matter, she revealed, “I totally thought it was justified.” She spoke about the encounter and the party on her podcast, We Signed an NDA.
She explained, “If I was in that position, I would probably be like, ‘Wow, the audacity of asking me if you could have your birthday party in this house in this situation.’ If there was any frustration, I could tell that it was definitely towards Tom. Like, I didn’t take it personally … She has every right to feel annoyed at this request.”
Ann further defended Ariana by saying, “If there’s any fans out there who are surprised by Ariana’s reaction, I would say this was literally a few months after she found out about the affair and it was not a time to party.” Four months after, to be exact.
She continued, “I felt so bad asking Ariana about the party and seeing if it was OK. I remember in between takes I would just apologize profusely to Ariana. I felt so bad.” As for the party that ultimately happened, Ann approached the request with “sugar instead of vinegar.”
As she explained, “I admittedly quickly texted the question and then told Tom, like, ‘Oh, whoops, I already sent it,’ so that I could get away with asking nicely rather than making the statement that he wanted to.”
